Norton Utilities Premium

Recently installed new Norton Utilities Premium that replaced Norton Utilities 16. First impression is favorable with totally new interface. There is some learning associated with the new interface. The new "Clean" tab has a general description sentence, "Tools to clean out junk, repair issues remove or disable programs, and erase private data." Then there are three tool tabs, one being "Internet Cleanup." It is used to "Clean out temporary internet files, cache, expired cookies, browsing history, saved passwords, download history, and more.

Are these securely wiped or just deleted?

Re: Norton Utilities Premium

Out of curiosity, what is the version number of this newly packaged Norton Utilities. I still have the older version 16.0.3.53

Re: Norton Utilities Premium

It is a new release called Norton Utilities Premium and requires a subscription v17.0.0.13. I am still in my evaluation phase and haven’t uninstalled v16.0.3.53.

Re: Norton Utilities Premium

Hi

Sorry for jumping in your conversation, but I am also interested in the new NU premium.

I have NU16 and wonder if I can upgrade to NU premium? Do I have to purchase a new subscription for the premium version?

Thanks for your advise

The older NU16 was a one time purchase product. The 'Upgrade' path is to just uninstall NU16 and sign up for the new subscription based Premium product. Remember this will be an ongoing renewing subscription. Not a one time purchase.

Re: Norton Utilities Premium

Apparently, I missed the "uninstall NU16" part before installing (subscribing) to Premium.

Still looking for an answer to my original question re: Premium,

This same question may apply to NU 16 and I just never thought to ask.

Thanks to all. Help is greatly appreciated.

Re: Norton Utilities Premium

I have not been able to look at the new version yet. If I were to guess, I would say that those items you ask about would just be deleted. Not securely. Going from the NU16 product, the only way to securely remove things was with the Bleach Disk function that you would run after the other cleanup functions.

Thanks for the help. The question is, is it worth it to upgrade? The answer to the question by "Gator68" will also interesst me! Racin

Re: Norton Utilities Premium

I have finally been able to install the new version of NU.

Looking at the original question

Are these securely wiped or just deleted?

Looking at the Settings page for the PC Cleanup, it looks like there is a regular file delete, and then the Incinerate option. That would sound like a more secure wipe of the internet files. Although I can find no documentation on this. If you click on the Help icon in NU Premium, it takes you to information for NU 16.
