Norton Utilities Premium update

I had trouble updating Norton Utilities Premium so I uninstalled it.

Since then I am getting a message several times a day that there is an update available, which I obviously don't want because I have uninstalled the program.

How do I stop these annoying messages?

Thanks in anticipation,

Mike

Thanks xjoex.

I installed the program again and uninstalled it. This time the uninstall appeared to complete successfully, so I feel confident that the problem of updates has been solved.

Thanks for all your help.

Re: Norton Utilities Premium update

You have some leftover remnants of the program some combination of either files, folders or registry entries.

You might try running a cleaning utility like CCleaner or Revo Uninstaller. I always uninstall everything with Revo and it finds many leftover entries after the regular uninstaller finishes. Keeps things clean and no annoying messages or popups like you are getting.

So the long way would be to reinstall NUP and then uninstall with Revo. Maybe not the best way to approach this but it is a suggestion.

Thanks xjoex, that's very helpful.

I am very wary of using cleaning utilities on the Registry, because they have a bad reputation for messing it up.

I think I used IObit Uninstaller and this normally does a good job. Would Revo do better?

Thanks, Mike

Revo has a good reputation with many folks here.

How did you uninstall this. I keep getting stuck in a loop and it will not uninstall.

Re: Norton Utilities Premium update

Hello Charles

My story started two months ago, see my thread under the same title Norton Utilities Premium update.

I used IObit Uninstaller for a deep uninstall of the program, and got the same problem as you.

The program disappeared from the Programs and Features page on the Control Panel, so I thought it had uninstalled OK after all.

Then I started getting the notices of available updates, which was the subject of this current thread.

As advised here, I installed the program again, and when I used IObit Uninstaller again it worked OK.

So I suggest you reinstall the program and try again, using either IObit Uninstaller if you've got it, or Revo as was recommended to me.

Good luck!

Mike
