Norton Vault error on mobile

I logged into my vault today on my Android phone.  After successful login, I got an error: "There was some problem syncing the data.  Please logout and login again to sync the data."

I logged out and logged back in, same error.

I logged out, shut down my phone, waited about 20 minutes (mainly because I got busy and forgot about the phone), turned the phone back on, logged back in, and got the same error.

Is there something short of uninstalling and reinstalling Norton ID Safe Mobile that I can do?

Re: Norton Vault error on mobile

Try clearing your app cache to help reset your Identity Safe app.

I would also suggest waiting a day in case there are some issues with the Identity Safe servers.

If you still have the problem, post back for more help.

Re: Norton Vault error on mobile

Thanks very much for responding peterweb.  I tried that after I posted my question.  I've been having intermittent trouble updating some of my apps (I get an error about being out of space), so I've learned to regularly go through all my apps and clear cache on them.  Doing that, even on all my Norton apps, didn't solve the issue last night.  I even tried turning my phone off and back on again afterwards.

However, I think I may have solved my problem by accident.  Last night, for unrelated reasons, I changed the password on my Norton account.  This morning, when I went to open my vault to check on the status of the error, it said my session had expired and made me log in again with the new password.  Once I did that, and logged into my vault, I got no errors about synching.  Hopefully this will help someone else.

Re: Norton Vault error on mobile

Your changing the password on your account would explain what was happening. Normally you remain logged into your account and just get logged out of the ID Safe vault. Both logins are required to access the vault. When you changed the Norton Account password, you were effectively logged out of the account. When you logged back into your Account from your device, you again had access.

Re: Norton Vault error on mobile

I had access to my vault even with the error about syncing the data.  Ostensibly some of the data wasn't the same (I have hundreds of passwords saved, and did not take the time to check if any were not "in sync").  I was able to use my vault on my mobile device just fine, but as I didn't know which passwords/accounts were not in sync, I wanted to get the error corrected.

Yes, both logins are required for access to the vault.  My phone (as my desktop does) remains logged in to my Norton account most of the time.  Forcing the log out apparently forced the vault to sync properly, thus solving the problem.

Re: Norton Vault error on mobile

The logins you were able to access were probably the locally cached data that is kept on your device for when you experience a problem accessing the servers.

Re: Norton Vault error on mobile

I continue to get the error about syncing data whenever I use the vault on my smartphone, but clearing cache resolves it temporarily.  Manually clearing cache seems to be a necessary evil   er, bit of housekeeping on these smartphones.  I just wish they made it more convenient than going app by app to do it.

Re: Norton Vault error on mobile

You mentioned earlier that you get messages about not enough space on your device. I had a similar problem, and just had to decide what apps I really needed. Deleted a couple, and now have enough memory for the daily use of the device.

If you can do this, you may not need to clear the caches as often.
