norton vpn fails to connect at startup

os win10 pro

Today I just updated to the latest version of the norton app, and I am incredibly happy when the vpn finally got kill switch and auto connect. So, I restarted my pc to give the vpn a try, and it failed..... It just tell me there is a connection error, when connecting. The internet is auto connected so it shouldn't have a problem, I tried another 3 times but still the same thing. Anyone know why?

Um, was Norton 360 Secure VPN connection working okay before 22.21.5.44?  
Um, was connection protected before machine Restart? 

3. How can I manually install these patches?

This patch is ONLY available via LiveUpdate, and is being released in a phased manner. You may need to run LiveUpdate and reboot a few times before your product is completely updated to the latest version.

4. What's new in Norton 22.21.5.44?

  • Norton Secure VPN 4.1 is integrated, with Auto-ConnectKill Switch and Split Tunnel features:
    • The Auto-Connect feature automatically re-establishes VPN connection if the connection was established and lost due to RAS error or internet access lost

as test ~ before & after machine Restart 

Note: with Auto-Connect On
I observed a lag after machine Restart (at desktop) before seeing "Your connection is protected". 
Maybe, Auto-Connect flow needs a few moments after machine Restart (at desktop). 
Maybe, just my machine need a few moments.

yes the connection is ok and after updating, but the auto start keep failing to connect

Okay, so Norton 360 Secure VPN manual On connects okay. 
Just Auto-Connect On with machine Restart does not connect, for you? 
Did you also test Sleep &or Hibernate? 

Um, W10 Fast Startup On or Off?

as test ~ one machine Restart
Auto-Connect On my 2yo wired machine and my 6yo wireless machine. 
After a few moments.... Auto-Connect On appears to satisfy "Your connection is protected".

I've not tested Sleep nor Hibernate.

no fast startup, yea if I click connect everything is find it just connects, but if you select the auto connect and boot you pc it will fail.

Norton 360 Secure VPN Auto-Connect is new....so, .....?
I'll need to test Auto-Connect On with cold start, Sleep and Hibernate.

as test ~ cold start: Secure VPN Turn On + Auto-Connect On appears to connect okay after cold start. 

Note: Network status (pic snip after machine cold start). 
Network status reports NortonSecureVPN - No internet access ... (before and) after machine cold start.  
- after some time Network status reports NortonSecureVPN - Internet access. 

Note: Network status seems to play catch up with Secure VPN Turn On & Off status. 
observed Network status report lag wired & wireless 
Just me?

Bjm, I can duplicate the "no internet access" flyout label on my machine as well. Funny still is that I DID have internet access at boot time although the flyout said I didn't, no catch-up noted. FWIW!! The VPN MUST have been started prior to a restart, and/or cold start. Otherwise it won't know to connect, I verified that just before posting this. Windows reports as seen below.

Edited: I also DO NOT seen any system tray icon related to the Norton VPN which would indicate its connected.

Maybe, "catch up" was poor word use.

Yes, I had "Internet access" (LiveUpdate & browse) with Network tray icon/button reporting No Internet access. 

Note: Network status reporting seems to play "catch up" with Secure VPN status.

Yes, Secure VPN tray status indicator icon/button is needed.

It should not be this hard. I want to know if my paid for Delux has VPN turned on. Net instructions DO not correspond to my Norton page after signing on. Upgrading as per suggestions still DO not have my Norton page match what is shown here. Why does Norton make it so difficult for paying customers? Do they ever carry out product usability research with members off the street, or only with IT experts? Bot Chat could not understand my VPN question. Bot said Live agent would connect in one minute. Then I was informed it would take 9 hours 33 min for a live agent. Have gone through pages of forums and still no joy. Please help as I have wasted far too much time already, while Nortons does not appear to be interested in helping once they own your money.

Why are banking details needed to update? Why isn't an update automatic? If I had not read these pages I would never have known that an update was required: why didn't Norton notify that such an action was necessary in order to install VPN? Someone in authority there needs to be replaced. That is a woeful approach to service. I have paid for something and I am still not certain that I have what I paid for! This is not being secure! In fact I feel very insecure.
