Re: NORTON VPN SLOWING DOWN MY LAPTOP REPONCE TIMES

Have you done speed tests to quantify the speed reduction? There is always going to be some slowdown when using a VPN as your data is being encrypted before sending, and decrypted when received again.   Although, some users have seen huge speed reductions that we have not been able to diagnose.

Slowing down every device running Windows. Yes I have done speed tests with and without, using both wireless and ethernet. Have also tried switching locations, even countries. It is definitely VPN causing it. Really not acceptable.

What were your speed test results, with and without the VPN? As noted, all VPNs will slow a connection somewhat due to the overhead of a VPN.

@peterweb

I have also noted the slowing down of my Comcast Internet when Norton VPN is activated - perhaps the following additional info may help.

Non VPN - WIN 10 Desktop - connected via Ethernet ↓ 237.6 Mbps  ↑ 12.0 Mbps

VPN Enabled - Win 10 Desktop - connected Ethernet ↓ 51.8 Mbps ↑ 10.1 Mbps

Non VPN - Win 10 Laptop - connected via WiFi ↓ 92.9 Mbps  ↑ 16.9 Mbps

VPN Enabled - Win 10 Laptop - connected via WiFi ↓3.6 Mbps ↑4.7Mbps

Non VPN - Android  8.1.0 - connected via WiFi ↓58.1 Mbps ↑ 11.4 Mbps

VPN Enabled (Manually) - Android 8.1.0 -connected via WiFi  ↓ 36.4 Mbps ↑7.9 Mbps

I have same problem as Permalink.  Windows 10 without VPN 100 Mbps - with VPN 2 Mbps [Yes two Mbps].  When I run my MacBook Air at the same time, there is virtually no difference - 100 Mbps with & without VPN.  Have tried various solutions with no success.  Help.

Re: NORTON VPN SLOWING DOWN MY LAPTOP REPONCE TIMES

Since previous post both computers have been working at 100 Mbps, both with & without VPN.  Now the situation is reversed with the Windows performance staying at 100 Mbps with & without VPN while the MacBook Air gives 42 Mbps without VPN and 5.8 Mbps with VPN.  What can possibly be happening?
