NortonAV v11.0.1(3) unlocks itself on shutdown and startup

Running Mac 10.4.11 with all Security Updates. About a month ago I noticed that NAV would be unlocked upon opening the application after a complete shutdown and startup. I first I thought I might have forgotten to lock it before shutdown however, I am sure now that this is not the case. What could be messing with my permissions? I use an admin account on my computer, and regularly run Disk Utility to repair permissions.

Update info. NAV 11 self unlocks on every restart! I ran a Keychain Access Repair as a problem was indicated for Symantec and now KA verifies okay, however, the problem with self unlocking persists. Please advise!

Hey x190av,

I believe you are seeing expected behavior. The locking behavior for NAV should be similar to something like SystemPreferences, where you can use an Admin account (and password) to unlock the settings. If you are logging in to your Mac with an Admin account, NAV figures that it's okay to unlock itself for your use. 

If you log into your Mac with a non-Admin account, you should never see the lock automatically open. 

It's a little confusing - let me know if you have any more questions. We will be trying to simplify the locking behavior of our applications in our next release.

Okay, nuchida, however:-

#1 SystemPrefs does not self-unlock even with Admin a/c.

#2 I have used NAV for almost 2 years and this is new behaviour--approx. last 2 months (added a second Admin a/c about that time).
