Nortons Internet Security (or Nortons Security) FIREWALL vs. Mac's FIREWALL

Need to know best settings re firewall - Mac or Nortons or both?  I bought Nortons Internet Security but when installed on my Mac it says it's Nortons Security.

I'm familiar w/ PC's, not Mac's.  PC's, generally should not have two firewalls - not good, gotta choose (same goes for antivirus programs).  Does the same go for Macs....I recently read there's 'software firewalls' and 'hardware firewalls' (never heard/knew of that).  So what does that mean as far as what someone should have/use, one or both?  I'm guessing Macs firewall is part of the OS therefore a hardware firewall?????  And Nortons is a software firewall????  I contacted Nortons (tech support) and they didn't know how I should set my settings if I felt it's better to use Mac's firewall and Nortons for the rest.  Of course both parties feel their firewall is better.  Honestly, I don't know whats best but want to know and understand my choices.

Need help, super frustrated and very nervous on the internet (keep getting notices saying a connection attempt was blocked).  Using a desktop High Sierra and ethernet antenna ISP just installed (no router yet but will be getting one, nothing to network right now anyways but will soon and will have to learn about wifi and security for that... :/  Not a clue how vulnerable I am.  Pls help!  Thank you.

Re: Nortons Internet Security (or Nortons Security) FIREWALL vs. Mac's FIREWALL

Nortons employees don't know Macs, even when sent to the Mac specialist.  1st chat couldn't answer this question - but at least he was honest.  2nd chat accessed my computer to reset Nortons back to default (which there is no one button to do - not good Norton) and before I could ask (again) abt the firewall he disconnected himself and could not return because he changed the settings and blocked himself out from returning to our chat.  Watching him mess around on my computer to change settings, it was clear he didn't know Nortons on Macs or Macs.  Nortons employees should NOT change settings if it's a guess because I watched him make my settings less secure and command the setting that I knew would block him out.  Nortons should not say they have Mac specialists when they don't.  But they sure do want me to spend more $ and buy Lifelock and more.  Never again.  No resolution, thanks Nortons.

Sorry to hear that. Norton Security provides best protection than the Mac firewall. It is not good to have two firewalls enabled at the same time as it consumes more resources and delay. So I would recommend disabling Mac firewall.
