Not able sign in to ID Safe in product, Internet Explorer, Google Chrome -complete fail

Complete failure trying to sign-in to Identity Safe through the product Norton 360 (22.5.5.15), or I.E. or Google Chrome.  Current browser versions.  Windows 7.

I tried following this-------


I am unable to sign in to the Norton Identify Safe vault, as the Get started window appears again after I enter my credentials

Sign out and sign in to Norton Identity Safe

1.Start your Norton product.


2.On the top-right corner of the main screen, click on your user name. 

The user name is displayed only if you have signed in with your Norton account credentials. 


3.In the Sign out dialog box, click OK.


4.Restart your computer.


5.After the computer restarts, start your Norton product.


6.In the main window, on the Identity tab, click Identity Safe.


7.In the Get started window, click Sign in.


8.In the Sign In window, type in your Norton account credentials, and click Sign In.


9.In the Vault Closed window, type your Norton Identity Safe vault password, and click Open.

Now the product said if I do not use the right password and CAPTCHA, ID Safe Vault will be locked for one hour.

BAD BAD BAD.

FIX THIS NOW!

BAD.  MAKE THIS THING WORK!!!

Success always occurs in private and failure in full view. Windows 7 Pro 64 bit NSBU 22.17.0.183 Core Firmware 282 I E 11 Chrome latest version.

floplot, those links are irrelevant.  No ability to sign in to ID Safe whether through the product, or Internet Explorer, or through Google Chrome.  SUDDEN and continuing failures started TODAY.  This does not simply involve Firefox.

Hi g_cafe_c,

Please go to the following URL:

https://identitysafe.norton.com/

Select Sign In in the upper right hand corner, then sign in to your Norton Account, enter your vault password and let us know if you see all your log-ins.

If you see your log-ins, select one, let it open and then select Visit Site and see if it takes you to the site and logs you in.

Let us know the results.

Try the instructions you listed in your first post, but this time after step 4, open a browser and click on Vault is Closed  on the Norton Toolbar and try logging in from there. Remember it will be your Norton Account email and password first, then the vault password.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

I read your instructions and suggestions, yank and peterweb; and then I returned to the instructions I posted in the first message of my topic.  I did this:

  1. Opened N30
  2. Clicked "Sign In" at the top of the N360 product window
  3. Entered the PASSWORD FOR THE NORTON ACCOUNT, and the username email soon appeared shown in the Norton 360 product window
  4. Opened Identity Safe,... clicked to sign-in to Identity Safe, and entered the PASSWORD FOR IDENTITY SAFE
  5. SUCCESS Signing in to Identity Safe

The apparent resolution was that to respond to the or get around the "Get Stated" and then the failure, was to first SIGN IN to Norton account, AND THEN sign in to Identity Safe.  I will see how far this continues to work, and how long the machine stays logged in to Identity Safe.

I am very curious abut your Step 3 above:

"Entered the PASSWORD FOR THE NORTON ACCOUNT, and the username email soon appeared shown in the Norton 360 product window".

Actually the Norton Account email normally shows first - prior to entering the password.  I am curious if your system is so slow that you typed the password in prior to the email address being able to display.

I may be wrong, but I have never seen the Norton Account email address and password react the way you said it did.

It has always been necessary to be signed into your Norton Account prior to signing into an Online Vault.

I did exactly what I said in Dec 9 2015  11:43AM posting. The hint came from the instructions published by Symantec (also pasted in my first message on this topic).

When the failure happened  a few days ago, the machine WAS signed on to the Norton account, but the published instructions said to sign out, restart, ... and the rest of the instructions.  I was then still missing aware of the fact I would need to sign in again to the Norton account as part of signing back in to Identity Safe Vault.

Late this afternoon after machine been restarted and fresh started once each,  I find that the machine is still (apparently) signed in to the Norton account, and signing in to Identity Safe Vault was no trouble .

That is normal to remain signed into your Norton Account through reboots and even totally shut-downs and restarts.  I have found my Win 7 system to show logged into Norton Account on my Norton Security with Backup (NS Premium if you prefer) for weeks @ a time and I only need to enter my Vault password to open ID Safe.

Since I don't use the ID Safe, my Norton Security remains logged in with daily restarts and occasional shutdowns..
