I recently found out about Norton Cryto, and I activated it. I thought it's supposed to mine when computer is idle, however, I noticed that it has been mining even when I am using my desktop. During gaming it's making my FPS spike and only option that I found is to pause or turn off miner manually.
Is this normal? Is it supposed to mine when the PC is not idle?

The definition of "idle" is defined by the following: if the computer is running on battery power (laptop) it will pause the miner, if the computer is utilizing more than 20% of the GPU, it will pause the miner.
Other than power and GPU utilization the miner will continue. I am surprised that while you are gaming it's not using the GPU at a rate that would pause the miner. What game are you playing?

League of Legends. Norton Crypto seems to work fine on my laptop, but when I use the gaming desktop, it keeps mining even if I'm gaming or watching youtube or whatever... I can feel the computer slowing down dramatically if I don't manually turn off the miner.

if you turn off norton crypto and run the game, what is the GPU utilization? is it greater than 20%?

If the game is utilizing < 20% but the miner when only uses another 6% perhaps it's a memory constraint thing, i'll have the team look into how we determine idle a bit more as our intention is to not disrupt users and only do when idle
