NPM causing problems with login at specific website

I have used Norton Password Manager (NPM) for many years and logged into literally hundreds of websites with it.  It is giving me problems when I try to login to a specific site (wpo.bigscoots.com).  I am using Microsoft Edge.  It fills in the credentials properly, but when I click Login, the credentials disappear.  Even if I copy and paste (or manually enter) the credentials, it still does not login (the credentials just disappear).  It does not matter if the vault is open or not.

I can login successfully if I use a browser window (InPrivate or Windows Sandbox) which does not have NPM installed.  I can also login successfully if I turn off NPM.  Both of these solutions are kind of inconvenient.

I did contact Bigscoots and they don't know how to fix it.  I also reported it to Norton, but I have not heard anything.

I would appreciate suggestions.  Thank you

Re: NPM causing problems with login at specific website

Hi rivers2,

Could you please check the version of the Edge extension in your browser ?

Steps:

  1. Open a tab in edge and browse to edge://extensions/
  2. Check the version of Norton Password Manager
  3. If it is 8.0.2.67 , can you try logging into wpo.bigscoots.com site again and see if your problem is still reproducible.
  4. If the version is less than 8.0.2.67, please update the extension and try. To update extensions immediately, go to edge://extensions,turn on the Developer mode toggle, and then click the Update button.

Thanks,

Uma

Re: NPM causing problems with login at specific website

Hello rivers2. I have the same issue with one of my banking site. In my case, PWM isn't the issue its the website. I can suggest that IF, you are allowing Edge to save passwords, AND, utilizing PWM at the same time, disable the Edge password saving feature. See whether the alleviates the issue.

Re: NPM causing problems with login at specific website

Hello SA.  I have a slight problem (one easily solved) on one of my banking sites also.  NPM fills in the credentials, but they disappear in just a moment.  As long as I click Login before that moment is up, everything proceeds normally (it has almost become a game).  I can also copy and paste (or manually fill-in) the credentials and everything works normally.  This is WAY easier than the website mentioned at the start of this thread.  I see this as an incompatibility between NPM and the website, with neither one being totally at fault.

I have always saved passwords in NPM, and have always set Edge to NOT save passwords.  But thanks for the suggestion!

Running a VPN at the same time or no? Just another thought that can cause the issue.

Re: NPM causing problems with login at specific website

Hi rivers2,

Sorry for the problem you are facing with Norton Password Manager extension installed on wpo.bigscoots.com site.

Could you please try the below steps and let us know if you still face this issue

  1. Quit your Edge browser which has Norton Password Manager installed and enabled.
  2.  Launch it again , this would refresh the cached contents of the Norton Password Manager extension i.e. will pull the changes done to address this issue
  3. Then browse to wpo.bigscoots.com with Norton Password Manager enabled.
  4. Check whether you are able to fill the credentials and
  5.  On clicking Login, you should be able to proceed successfully.

Thanks,

Uma

Make sure you have javascript and 3rd party cookies enabled in Edge.

Re: NPM causing problems with login at specific website

Hi Uma,

I did as you requested.  Credentials fill successfully, but when I click Login, the credentials disappear and I am not logged into the site.  I can only login to website when Norton Password Manager extension is NOT enabled.  There appears to be some incompatibility between the website and Norton Password Manager that prevents successful login.

Let me know if I can give you any additional information to help diagnose the problem.  Thanks for your assistance!
