Re: In NRT SetUp

Here is the description for BUDump:

This program is used to export and import online backup set created using Norton 360. If you are using Online Backup, run this tool before running Norton Removal Tool or formatting your computer. It should be used only if you are reinstalling Norton 360 or upgrading from Norton 360 one version to another.

However, things have changed now, and you do not need to run BUDump tool any more when you run Norton Removal Tool or when upgrading, as it does not store any backup index. So you can skip that step.

Re: In NRT SetUp

Good to hear you Hugh. No problem to what you said.  Just like to know from a Norton staff or another Guru that knows about NRT budump.exe file for Step 2. CyberLife is saying it not needed these days.

Sorry for asking so many questions folks. :)

Re: In NRT SetUp

Please see this thread concerning BUDump.  Apparently it is no longer necessary to run it, but I don't use Norton 360 and have no first hand knowledge about this.

Re: In NRT SetUp

Bike Mike,

BuDump.exe is used only when upgrading from Norton 360 version 1.0. Budump is not required for latest versions of Norton 360. We have updated the KB articles, please check:
