NS File Insight says "file not found" on 2 files after moving them to new computer

Using NS 22.18.0.213 on 2 machines: Windows 7 and 10 (v. 1903, with latest updates.)     I have NS set to run a File Insight on each file I download from the Internet, and it pops up and works well.  I also frequently check File Insight manually using the context menu in Explorer.

On the Windows 7 machine, I downloaded 2 Nvidia driver files and NS showed the Insight and said they were good, with tens of thousands of users.  I also did a virus scan and manual check with the File Insight and get the same good result.   I then copied the 2 files via a thumb drive over to the Windows 10 machine, which also uses NS.   When I did a manual File Insight over there (while connected to the Internet), both files produce a message "File not found or file not accessible.  Please try later."

I don't understand why the same files produce a good Insight result on the Win 7 machine, but I can't use File Insight on them on the Win 10 machine.   I tested other *.exe files that I had copied to the Win 10 machine, and File Insight works fine on them.  It's only the 2 Nvidia files that cause the phenomenon and only on the Win 10 machine.

Thanks for any comments/suggestions.

Yes, that is the popup I described above.  Thanks for the link, but I'm not sure what you wanted to me to see in that other thread.  That user posted a long thread after a risk was detected.   I haven't had any risks detected, and I haven't excluded any files at all.  So you may have to just state what I should have found in that thread.  I notice the date of that thread is similar to mine, so that part is coincidental, unless others also started having File Insight problems recently.

Of the dozen or so .exe files I copied and transferred from the Win7 machine to the Win10 machine, the 2 Nvidia files are the only ones who have "File Not Found".  And on the Win7 machine, File Insight on those 2 files works normally.   Something happened during the transfer process, but I don't know what, or why it only affects these 2 files..

I just tried this.   I copied the Nvidia files and other files from the Win7 machine (where File Insight for them worked) to a thumb drive.   Leaving the thumb drive in place on the Win7 machine, I then did a File Insight on the files on the thumb drive.  All worked fine, except the 2 Nvidia files, which work fine on the Win7 itself but not when on the thumb drive in the Win7 machine..   The same thing happens on 2 different thumb drives.   So whatever is happening to them happens when they arrive on the thumb drive in the Win7 computer and before they even make it to the Win10 computer.   Why it only happens on these 2 files I'm not sure.   I've transferred other files equally as large (~500 MB) without any problem and File Insight works on those, both while on the thumb drive and in their new location on the Win10 computer.

I posted similar sounding popup pic along with pic source.
My similar sounding popup has nothing to do IMO with excluding the file.
My File Not Found occurred IMO similar to as you've described.

Oh, thanks.   I was getting the popup OK.   The other thread was about excluding a risk, so that was confusing.

I guess like the popup advises, I'll just keep trying later.

I opened a support case.  I doubt I'll hear back from Support, as promised.
I pointed to the message with my File Not Found pic trying with the best of intentions to add information to your Topic.

I moved file from C: boot drive to internal storage D: drive.
On C: File Insight worked.
On D: File Not Found.

I had previously, before my File Not Found popup, not seen File Not Found popup.

File checksum is the same before and after copy/paste move.

Thanks.  That's interesting.  So you were able to reproduce it.  It appears something happens the moment it is moved from the original drive which is why the File Insight no longer works when I move the file to either the thumb drive or the Win10 computer.

I had never had this happen before, either, after transferring files from drive to drive for several years.

adding:
My thinking is that the file size n' or file type is causal.  My File Not Found dialog occurs with a 636 MB msi installer.

File Insight with 593 KB executable installer (from the same source as the msi installer) moved from C: to D: (same as msi) does not prompt File Not Found.

Re: NS File Insight says "file not found" on 2 files after moving them to new computer

It could be file size. That other thread with the "File Not Found" popup had a 636 MB msi file.

But my 2 problem files are approx. 541 MB each and are common *.exe executable installation files. If I move them to new location on same drive (different directory), no problem; Insight works. But if I move them to a thumbdrive or other hard drive, I get the "File not found" popup when using Insight, either connected to the Internet or not.

Like you, I checked the checksums, and they remain the same after the move.

Yes, that other thread is my thread.

Yes, moving to another drive is causal + file size?.

I moved (Cut n' Paste) 55 MB Chrome installer from C: to D: & from D: to C:.
File Insight works okay, on both drives.

FWIW ~
File: 431.60-desktop-win10-64bit-international-whql.exe
File size: 541 MB (567,687,656 bytes)

File Insight = Okay before move.
File Insight = File Not Found after move.

=============================================

File: 431.60-notebook-win10-64bit-international-dch-whql.exe
File size: 496 MB (519,994,760 bytes)

File Insight = Okay before move.
File Insight = Okay after move.

Re: NS File Insight says "file not found" on 2 files after moving them to new computer

Thanks.   Yes, that first Nvidia file (the latest Win10 driver) is one of the exact files I'm referring to, for which Insight says "File not found" after transfer.   Since it's over 500 MB, and your other file which worked was under 500 MB, I wonder if 500 MB is a magic number.

While size may be the main factor, there must be some other parameter at work, too, since it works OK on the source drive.  "Something" must happen during the transfer that makes File Insight no longer able to recognize the file on the target drive.   I can't imagine what that would be since the checksum stays the same.  But I don't know what all the identifiers are that File Insight uses.
