NS renew question with new productkey

If I use a new productkey in the main UI of NS,  will any days remaining on my existing subscription will also be added to the new subscription period?

I mean I still have enough days on my NS subsciption, but if I can buy a new productkey for a good price, can I use THAT key to extend my subscription period?

Re: NS renew question with new productkey

Hi ferenzzz,

I think the only time that days are added to new key is if you buy from the Norton store, buying from outside you should keep hold of the key and only renew using that key a day or so before the original subscription runs out.

Maybe someone else can shine a light on this... a Norton employe maybe?

I really would like to know...

Re: NS renew question with new productkey

The suggestion that others have reported works (and I think has been said here by Norton) is to contact the Norton OnLine Support Team by CHAT that uses your computer keyboard, not the phone, and ask them.

The reply seems to be "after you have bought the NS key"

Whether it happens automatically or not I don't think anyone is certain ..... yet.

To contact customer support click on this link https://www.norton.com/chat and work on from there.

Please let us know how you get on ....

Yes I know that Hugh, but it did not answer my question, what happens when you use a new productkey as stated in my #1 post?

Re: NS renew question with new productkey

If you just enter a new key, you will lose any remaining time. That has always been the way it works. The only way to avoid this is to purchase a Renewal directly from Norton. But that usually is a more expensive way than purchasing a new key from any reputable source.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

Re: NS renew question with new productkey

If you enter a new product key on top of the trial version, the existing days on the trial version will be forfeit and the new subscription days from your new product key will kick in.

However, if you have a paid subscription and try to overwrite that with another subscription, what will happen is it will just kick out the old subscription (the old product key) and replace it with the new subscription (the new product key).

If you have two paid NS subscriptions, give Norton a call and they can merge the subscription for you and add up the days. Make sure though that both product keys are in the same Norton account (ie. the email you used to register your norton products).

Re: NS renew question with new productkey

NS being so new, many of us are running on a 30 day free trial period and not entering our new activation codes until we have to. It is correct in that you will loose any remaining days once you do.

On another computer I still have 150 days left with N360 and I'm not willing to loose that for NS. There are no refunds at this point so I will let my N360 run its course before switching over.

Re: NS renew question with new productkey

Boy was I ever wrong on this. Turns out I actually had 207 days left with N360. Through norton chat, I was able to install NS and merge my unused days. Very happy camper at this point.

Re: NS renew question with new productkey

donahu1, glad to have another confirmation that it is not so difficult and dramatic.
I myself had experienced how the Symantec Support is able to handle these things when I had asked them to transfer the remaining days of my old subscription to NS.
