NS Toolbar question...

Hello,

I have NTB & Identity Protection disabled on my XP system, both in FF 32 & IE 8 because the NS Toolbar has severe issues with all browsers. (different but still issues).

I know that I'm IPS covered BUT, (and here comes the question), if I visit a malicious site, does Norton need the Toolbar enabled in order to alert me for that website, or the Web Protection defs feature work independently and I should see a message from Norton???

Thanks,

Regards,

Re: NS Toolbar question...

Good question, Apostolos. I have asked if someone in Symantec would care to comment.

Re: NS Toolbar question...

Hi Apostolos,

As a safe way to test could you try test # 4 here  -  http://www.amtso.org/feature-settings-check.html

Let us know the result.

Edit :  Test # 2 will also check for protection from drive-by downloads.

A little bit of knowledge is... well a little bit of knowledge.

Re: NS Toolbar question...

Hi Apostolos,

If you disable NTB & Identity Protection, web protection will not work .i.e. no alert will be shown when you visit a malicious/phishing site.

Re: NS Toolbar question...

Thank you all for the useful info.

@ Umamaheswaril_s,

I guess I will have to wait for a NTB fix because the current NTB version gives me mozalloc.dll & nsappshell:event window errors when closing FF 32.

The issue goes away if I disable NTB.

Any ETA on a fix or an alternative workaround??

Thanks.
