Once again

Once again NS w/backup update problems with firewall and backup. Downloaded latest version using my account. Ran NRnR tool. Did a remove only. Reinstalled using new download. Ran updates until there were no more. I searched forums and have tried all the suggested fixes without success. Firewall is not running. A check indicates:

1) Firewall is greyed out. I get warning, click fix it but shortly there after it is greyed out again.

2) Can not sign in to account using NS interface. Communication with server fails

3) Can not run backup as it fails to communicate with server

4) Exploit protection is off and won't turn on

Used browser  IE 11 and Chrome Version 70.0.3538.67 (Official Build) (64-bit) without success to try and communicate with server

NS version 22.16.0.247

Windows 10 Build 17134.345

OS is up to date

NS is up to date

Re: Once again

Hello Les. There must be something going on with the back-end communication to the Norton servers. I too have had no luck signing into my account nor the password manager for the past two days. I am of the belief that what you are experiencing and what I am experiencing are co-related. Please see my post here. Norton services status currently shows green across the board as well without any service having issues.

Cheers

Re: Once again

After I did a few manual updates. I was able to sign in through NS and bonus I am able to create backup.

Firewall still not working correctly

Re: Once again

Les, do you have fast startup enabled on Windows 10? If so it is suggested to disable it and reboot the system. Here is how to do that. That setting sometimes prevents software from getting a clean and complete install due to data being held in resident memory. You may also want to perform a second R&R (remove only) then reinstall your product once you have rebooted. Do let us know how things worked out.

Cheers

Re: Once again

I did disable fast start earlier. I will do the RnR again as you suggest. Will post results later.

Did as you suggested. Firewall was functional until I applied the most recent update. version is now 22.16.1.4

Re: Once again

As mentioned:  version is now 22.16.1.4 as of now. Prior to shutdown firewall and exploit protection were greyed out. Just restarted comp read your email, checked firewall and it is operating. Nothing else was done. For some reason it is now working. Just applied latest update and firewall is ok. Will restart & see what happens.

Re: Once again

Les. 22.16.0.247 is the latest version available via live update. You will get those update when live update runs or a manual check. Let us know if the issue returns when you have updated to 22.16.0.247. When you do get the update make sure you reboot your system though it may not prompt you to do so.

Cheers

Are you checking your version by clicking on Help - About from the main Norton Security screen?

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

Re: Once again

Hello Les

Did you thoroughly remove your old security program before installing Norton Security and then restart your computer? I think that the version you are reporting is a Cisco version  That could be why your program isn't working correctly.

Have a Good Night and

Thanks.

Re: Once again

@Sunil_GA Why are customers getting 22.16.1.4 with a clean reinstall then cannot get to the latest version 22.16.0.247? More than one customer is having the notion they are on the "latest" version with 22.16.1.4. Has the update been pulled from access?

Re: Once again

SoulAsylum - I missed this as well. Announcement was still titled 22.16 but is the notification of 22.16.0.247 with the content unaltered except the first few lines referring to 22.16.1.4 therefore no notifications received even though subscribed to NEW announcements, this is an OLD one rewritten (again). Appears to be issues again with logging into vault, have to sign into account first. Subscribers posting issues.

Re: Once again

According to Norton,  22.16.1.4 contains no updates!! - just a sort of book keeping exercise - I have requested a posing to this effect from Norton.

Re: Once again

I believe the 22.16.1.4 clean install only is in reference to RS5 October update for Windows 10 compliance. Funny though that was pulled before it could go world wide due to bugs. I then wonder as well why a fresh install, even when Norton finds an issue and requires an R&R brings the version to that version if its not needed vice 247. The new password manager patch comes with live updates in 22.16.0.247.

Our current Norton drivers are RS5 certified so there is no immediate requirement to move to 22.16.1.4.
