Online Safe????

I only have my passwords/vault stored online - does this mean that all my details e.g., about address, info and passwords are stored in the cloud, or are they also stored on my computer??

Hi,

With the latest version of the Norton products there is only the online vault.

Re: Online Safe????

As Symantec’s purported theories would have it, there is also a locally “cached” copy of your vault contents on your computer/device.  However, a quick read through these threads will fast illustrate the lack of “usability” of that cache should the vault access “mechanism” become “troublesome”…

Re: Online Safe????

So even whilst the safe is stored online (the cloud) there is still a copy stored on the individual(s) computer. If so, are those passwords hackable?

A seemingly reasonable question...

Perhaps a kind (and knowing) Symantec Emp will favor us with an enlightenment?

Hi,
If the question is 'are these passwords hackable?' I'd have to say yes. To the best of my knowledge there is nothing on or connected to the Internet that cannot be discovered and 'hacked', given the time, talent, and desire.

The way to keep a low profile, and therefore become less of a target, is to use the best practices you know for computing. Things like keeping your operating system patches and updates current, keeping your Norton security software current and updated. [that is a plug ] And, staying away from those neighborhoods/sites that are not on the correct side of the tracks.

It is also true that no single security product can protect you 100% of the time from 100% of the thousands of threats released daily so use additional resources to enhance your protection.

If the worst happens, don't panic. Gather as much information as possible while doing as little additional damage as possible. Disconnect from the Internet and use a different computer to report your problem so that you can receive help.

[time to put the soap box away]

Stay well and surf safe
