Online storage vs Home based storage

I'm trying to decide on whether to use online storage or a back up system here at home.  How safe is either compared to the other? Pro's vs Cons? Thanks!

Re: Online storage vs Home based storage

I run a basic backup (my documents, email files chosen music folder, favourites) & also run a full (everything) computer backup. The pros the basic backup should be safe on Norton's online storage but the cons are that storage space is limited to 25 Gb unless you pay extra for storage. Pros for full computer on an external drive is that you have a complete backup of everything (if you choose everything to backup) & that storage is only limited to the space on the external drive/DVDs but cons external drives can corrupt so you may lose your backup but this is extreme.

Another consideration is if you are robbed and your local backup drives are stolen, you have lost your important files. Same goes for a fire or other natural disaster. I use a combination of both. I backup up all family photos and important documents online, and use a local server to back up everything. Of course this will depend on how much data you are trying to back up.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.
