Online Vault compatible with Microsoft Edge?

I am a subscriber of Norton Security with Backup.  My installation of Windows 10 went well and I am able to log in to my Norton Online Vault. However when I go to a web page (for example to log in to Gmail), the Identity Safe does not fill in the login name and password. Does anyone know if this feature is compatible with Microsoft Edge? Thanks!

Re: Online Vault compatible with Microsoft Edge?

Hi @Patrick55

According to Microsoft, the browser-based products and features that we deliver today will not be compatible with Edge.

So the Norton Toolbar is not compatible with the Microsoft Edge Browser.

Please see announcement for more details

Re: Online Vault compatible with Microsoft Edge?

Hello

All the other browsers are available still in Win 10 including IE 11, so the toolbars should work ok with them as the announcement link shows. I heard that Edge so far isn't much of a Browser yet, so nothing lost so far. Thanks.

Re: Online Vault compatible with Microsoft Edge?

Hi Patrick

I updated my Surface Pro 2 to Windows 10 yesterday, IE11 seemed difficult to find in the first place as Microsoft want us to use Edge despite it not yet being quite ready.

I typed Internet Explorer 11 into the Search/Cortana Bar IE11 was top of the list of results under Programs. I right clicked and Pinned it to the Task Bar. When I use IE11 all the previous settings and Tool Bars including Norton with the ID Safe remain as they were before the upgrade.

Re: Online Vault compatible with Microsoft Edge?

A little perspective...

The (Modern UI implemented) Edge browser (under Win-10) is not too unlike the (Modern UI implemented) IE11 browser (under Win-8.1) or the (Modern UI implemented) IE10 browser (under Win-8.0)...

Norton has never before supported these Modern UI browser implementations with their Add-ons...So (to me, anyway) the Edge browser "support issue", if you wish to call it as such, is not at all "out of character" in regards to said support (as of to date).

The only real reason that it is now a point of heated focus, is due to Microsoft's late decision to make it the default Win-10 web browser. Had the same occurred with either of the previous two Modern UI IE implementations, this discussion would have taken place back then, instead of now.  The Edge (as default browser) decision (by MS) came rather late in the development cycle, and therefore caught many 3rd party developers a little off guard ("blindsided", might actually be a better descriptive).

Another aspect complicating this is that Edge (formerly Spartan) is developed on a totally new base code engine, titled (oddly enough) "Edge" - and dear old Microsoft has not been very forthcoming with specifications (for developers) as to the extensibility/interfacing aspect of the new engine, nor the MS products that are based upon it, e.g. Edge.

The simple fact is, IE11 is fully present in Win-10, ready to go to work, and can (relatively) easily be made the default web browser if you so choose - just so long as you know how to go about setting Default Programs in Windows.

I'm pretty sure that Norton will gladly provide support for Edge, once Microsoft is good enough to kindly provide the specifications to properly do so.

Cheers!
John
