Pairing of Laser Bluetooth Mouse blocked by Norton Security

Hello. Do I recall correctly that there was a Norton update yesterday or today that required a reboot? I'm on Windows 7. Since then I cannot pair my mouse. Sometimes it will pop up for a second and then in the corner-right of my screen there will be a Norton message: You are connected to an unsecured network. I get that even if I shut down all the routers in the house. Help! Thank you.

Re: Pairing of Laser Bluetooth Mouse blocked by Norton Security

I had the exact same problem. Norton updated and suddenly my Microsoft Sculpt Comfort Mouse (a bluetooth mouse) would not pair.  I got the idiot "unsecured network" response every time I tried to connect and pair.  Most of the time the mouse would not even show up on the pairing list. I've been fighting this for five stinking months and today I cracked it (permanently, I hope).  I brought up the Norton user interface  (the "You Are Protected" screen).  I clicked the down arrow on the right side. I clicked 'Advanced'.  On the next dialogue box, I shut off "Auto-Protect", "Smart Firewall" and "Intrusion Prevention". Yes, Norton will pitch a fit and warn you like crazy.  Live on the edge and choose the 15 minute override and "OK".  Then I went to the "Add a Bluetooth device" dialogue in Windows and tried pairing again.  It took three attempts, but it finally connected and paired.  Champagne tonight!

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the reminder.  It's a nice feature of Norton that these overrides can time out and everything goes back to full protection even if you get distracted.  I chose the 15 minute option for each override, but in the end re-enabled them myself as part of the experiment.
