panicky message every time I start up my Mac

Every time I start up my Mac, Norton pops up with a panicky message that my computer is in grave danger. This 'danger' is just a need to download the latest updates which I then have to authorise manually. Really annoying, why don't the updates get done automatically in the background? The settings are on automatic updates, but somehow this does not work if I turn the computer off instead of leaving it on standby.

Hello AnnedeJong Could you please post a screenshot of what you are seeing for us to review? Here is how: https://community.norton.com/en/forums/how-post-image-forums-0

Secondarily this sounds as though you have a possible PUP running. Download and run Malwarebytes to be safe
