Parent monitoring and filtering

Hi,

Currently parents do not have the ability to be monitored / restricted. It would be good if this feature could be added so that two parents can be accountable to each other or agree on filtering for each other as well as kids.

To do this by maintaining a log of each admin (Parent) action (that is not erasable) so the other parent can see what changes were made to the monitoring. Alternative implementation is if one parent makes changes to kids that would work, but for changes to their own account or other parent that would need the other parent to 'approve changes' when they next logged on.

Currently this is only achievable by creating a 'child' profile for each parent but this can be altered by either parent without the other parent being aware.

Think this could have some benefits, Thanks.

Re: Parent monitoring and filtering

Hi R B,

Thanks for the post. Norton Family program was designed as a tool to monitor children's online activity.  It encourages communication between parents and their children, not a product that monitors adults in stealth mode.  The program notifies the children that they are being monitored.

Thanks again for sharing your valuable feedback with us.

Thanks

Re: Parent monitoring and filtering

Hi Katie,

My apologies for any confusion, however you seem not to have understood or even read my comment.

Norton Family does an excellent job at monitoring children and the fact it is obvious in my opinion is good and only assists its role. If you would care to re-read my original comment the 'adult' parent would be well aware of its use as they would be both using and logging into Norton Family.

I made no comment about any such 'stealth' mode! I do not agree with this sort of practice.

In my opinion there should be a method for parents (if there are more than one) to be able to have a profile like the children do. Meaning that this would be obvious to both and they would be able to setup a desired level of filtering and/or monitoring for each other. This may not appeal to many, but for instance I find myself all to often spending far too long on eBay or at the computer in general. If however I my partner and I could agree on usage limits with each other this could be useful. However if this was implemented due to the fact they are both parent accounts what stops me editing my time allowance? Addition of a log that all parents can see or an approve changes button that shows to other parent would resolve this aspect.

There are other applications which combined would allow a similar setup to the one described but none are as robust, consolidated and feature packed as Norton Family. I hope this clarifies things.

Thanks,

R B
