Password Manager "change now" problem

Hi All, I am looking for help with Password Manager (PM).  I use Chrome browser.

I have used the "change now" option to change a password for access to a website (easyjet.com in this case).  I used the Norton password generator to complete the change password form.  I then had a new password created that I then didn't know.   I expected PM to substitute the new password for the current one in the vault.  It did not, and I had to go through the "recover password" process with Easyjet.

I presume this is not how PM is meant to work.  As I couldn't get any sense from Norton Support I hope someone from the forum can confirm this and explain what I am doing wrong.

Thanks, Steve

Re: Password Manager "change now" problem

From what I remember, the password generator does just that. Generates a secure password with the parameters you provide. You then need to copy/paste the new password into what ever web site login you wish to update. NPM should then offer to save the new password to your vault.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

Re: Password Manager "change now" problem

Thanks for the reply.  That is subtly different to what I thought.

I used the "change now"  link from the vault to the website to access the change password page.  I used the password generator that popped up during the completion of the change password form to complete the new password in the website form and submitted to change password.  I expected the new password to be substituted in the vault.

What you seem to be saying is to generate a password separately in Password Generator and copy/paste this into the website form.  The next time you log in using this new password to the site NPM will ask to save the new password.  Not as elegant but would work.

Was my initial assumption therefore wrong?  In that case I don't see the point of the "change now" option (NPS guidance below).

[Change Now

The Change Now option lets you change the password of a website manually. Clicking Change Now will take you to a new tab, where you will need to take steps to change the password manually. Use the Password Generator feature in Norton Password Manager to set a strong password for the website to improve your login safety.

]

"change now" takes you to a website logon screen, which I think is misleading.

Many thanks, Steve

Re: Password Manager "change now" problem

The change now is probably just a reminder to follow secure password management procedures in that you should change sensitive passwords often. Just in case they do get compromised.
