Password Manager crashes in Chrome with ServerError

Using Chrome 73.0.3683.86, the latest version of Password Manager, Windows 10 64-bit. When signing into Password Manager I immediately get "ServerErrorHeader: ServerErrorContent" and an "EventClose" button. I was able to open the Password Manager vault through Norton 360.

Any suggestions?

First suggestion would be to restart your computer, then try again.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

Thanks for the suggestion. First thing I tried. Second was running Liveupdate. No joy with either step...

Re: Password Manager crashes in Chrome with ServerError

Do you have another browser you can use to check that NPM extension? Firefox or Edge?

What is the version of the NPM extension you have installed in Chrome?

Re: Password Manager crashes in Chrome with ServerError

Yeah, I'll try that. I'm using Norton Password Manager 6.4.1.8, reinstalled today from the Chrome store...

OK, tried Firefox, and it worked fine, so the problem would appear to be with Chrome... I'll remove and reboot before reinstalling...

Re: Password Manager crashes in Chrome with ServerError

I have the same Chrome version and NPM version as you, and I just had no issue accessing my vault.

You could start by just clearing Chrome's cache and history.

Re: Password Manager crashes in Chrome with ServerError

Nope... took a long time to clear, over 17k items. Seemed like if it took so long that'd do it, but nope, still no joy... It was working until it registered to me that although NPM was set to text me for a passcode each time the system started, it wasn't doing that. So I deleted the designated phone and reselected it. And then this problem appeared. Aaarrrggghhh.

Re: Password Manager crashes in Chrome with ServerError

Try logging into NPM and disabling the Mobile Unlock completely. Sign out of NPM. Then try logging into NPM from Chrome. Maybe this has something to do with the Mobile Unlock feature.

Well, there's a problem... I cannot find anyplace to disable the Mobile Unlock feature. Looked on my phone, looked through the online vault... can't find it. This is getting goofy.

Re: Password Manager crashes in Chrome with ServerError

When you said you had NPM set to send you a code, are you talking of the 2 factor authentication provided by the Norton VIP app to get you logged into your Norton Account? Or is it just the Mobile Unlock feature that was added recently.

To access the settings for the Mobile Unlock, you have to sign into the vault using a browser extension. I just tested and it seems to be specific to the browser you are using. I disabled Mobile Unlock in Firefox, closed the vault and then tested with Chrome. The feature was still active in Chrome. So you have to be able to get yourself logged into your vault using Chrome to be able to change the settings.

What other extensions do you have installed in Chrome?

Where in the login process do you see that error? ie Do you get logged into your Norton Account and then get the error?

Re: Password Manager crashes in Chrome with ServerError

I was referring to Mobile Unlock sending a code to my phone. What is now failing is logging in using the little bulls-eye/keyhole symbol on the toolbar. When I click on it, the app opens up the log-in panel, but when I click "Sign In" a Norton Cloud Connect tab opens with the previously listed errors. I can still access the vault (wherever it is now) via the Norton 360 app but it is not a web page that opens, it's what looks like the old local vault (which went away months ago!). However, when I do, I cannot see any way to access Mobile Unlock to turn it on/off/change the phone to connect to, etc... Curiously, that app/vault reports that Firefox is NOT setup for the Password Manager (it is).

I just tried Firefox, too, and logging in works fine, I was able to turn on Mobile Unlock.

When you click on the NPM icon in the Chrome address bar, look at the bottom of the window and click on Sign out beside your email address. Restart your computer and then try logging in again.

Hi @pmorris, Are you still getting same error while Norton Password Manager vault login from Chrome browser?

Re: Password Manager crashes in Chrome with ServerError

When I click on the NPM icon in the Chrome address bar, it responds with a Sign In window... that's part of the problem... it will not allow me to sign in, so I can't sign out, either...  It only offers me a sign in button to click... which leads to the Norton Cloud Connect error.

Re: Password Manager crashes in Chrome with ServerError

Yup... and on top of all this my PC is failing.... (a new one on the way, but when it gets here I'll likely be several days just getting software installed).

This problem is a hassle... to get around it I leave Norton 360 open on the desktop so when I need a password, I can access the vault relatively quickly...

Re: Password Manager crashes in Chrome with ServerError

To clarify. When you click the NPM icon in Chrome, do you see your email address at the bottom left, with a Sign Out on the right. See my image. That is what I was referring to above.

Re: Password Manager crashes in Chrome with ServerError

Almost... that is, when I click the NPM button I seen the pictured window, but is says "Sign In" and "Sign in the your Norton Account to use Norton Password Manager." a button labeled "Sign In", a line reading "Help", and the License Agreement. It does not display my account info, as I'm not (as far as the apparently knows) signed in. Of course, using Morton 360, I AM signed in and using the vault... but I'm beginning to suspect they're not the same thing... (BTW, when I go through N360, and click the Password Manager button, the resulting login window displays a red exclamation point over the settings button. I never seen that before this problem occurred.) Anyway, once I enter my password, the N360 vault opens, but the NPM button behavior does not change in Chrome.

Re: Password Manager crashes in Chrome with ServerError

All methods of accessing the vault are separate from each other. ie You can be logged in to your Norton Account from 360, but any browser extension you open will  not be logged into your Norton Account. Unless you had already signed in from the browser.

So your Chrome extension looks like this???

If so, when you click on Sign In, you should be asked to enter your email address and then Norton Password. Then you should be prompted for your vault password.
