Password vault

I cannot find how to change the password for my password vault. I see how to change it for the main Norton site, but not the vault.

.....do not see mention of max 20 characters

Re: Password vault

I'm confused by this comment. I don't know what a maximum of 20 characters has to do with my question?

Re: Password vault

Yes, I had found that link as well. On the laptop, the identity safe (once accessed with the password) has no "settings" button that doesn't just take me to the settings for my main Norton account. In other words, I can change my password there but it's for the main site, not the identity vault.

On my phone, I can get into the vault and see the settings button. But there I find no way to change the password, only an option to change my pin (which is only relevant on the phone).

....as far as I know the maximum number of characters for the password is 20 and I was just commenting that documentation does not mention maximum number of characters.  We've had users use more than 20 and not understand issue with their password.   Just saying.

Re: Password vault

Ooohhh, I see. Thanks. I still can't find how to actually change the password though. I can't believe this is so elusive.

Re: Password vault

Nope, I saw that back when I first starting trying to change the password. On my laptop, there is no place in the vault for me to change settings that doesn't just change settings for the entire Norton account (not just the vault). On my phone, there is a settings button in the vault, but it only gives me the option to change my pin on my phone, not my password in general for the vault.

Re: Password vault

On the laptop, are you opening Norton Security, then from the Identity tab, click on Identity Safe. There appears to be one step missing from the instructions in the link I gave above. You need to sign into your vault at this point. Then the gear icon at the bottom of the ID Safe window brings up the ID Safe settings page. That is where you see the Security tab where you can change your vault password.

Re: Password vault

Yeah, I did sign into my vault. Once on my vault page, there is absolutely no gear icon at the bottom of the page if I'm using my laptop. If I use my phone, there is a gear icon and I can get to settings, but there is no change password option. Only an option to change my pin. This is a complete mystery.  Thank you for trying though. I appreciate it.

Re: Password vault

Mystery solved. I was accessing my vault through the Norton website - online. I was not accessing it locally through my laptop. I chatted with Norton support and now I know how to do it. Thanks!

Re: Password vault

Thanks for letting us know. That is why I was saying to open Norton Security to access your vault.

Re: Password vault

As of tomorrow, I am deleting all of my passwords/logins and will no longer access My Vault.  I am having too many problems locating it and there are too many glitches.  My whole "My Vault" program is useless to me.  It is frustrating because it is hard to access-- sometimes I can't even open it and having to enter my vault password over and over again is aggravating to no end.  I will be downloading a free "password/login keeper" program to secure my passwords/logins.  One I am going to try is KeePass Password Safe Portable, which is free (and highly rated) at download.com, here:  https ://download.cnet . com/KeePass-Password-Safe-Portable/3000-18501_4-75216982.html  Perhaps those of you here can use this as well.  Good luck trying to access/open your "Vault!"

Re: Password vault

Good point. Thanks for the tip. I think I might try that one too.

Re: Password vault

If you are going to download a password manager, better to download directly from the developer's site. No telling what may have been added to the downloader at third party download sites.
