This morning's patch will not apply due to "Host Process for Setting Synchronization" still running. See attached screenshot.
Hello Marc. Did you just ignore the notice and reboot? That should apply the patch for you.
I had similar situation, only requesting web browser be closed (which was not opened).
A restart, although slower than normal coming back up, and an additional run of Live Update, put everything back in order with 22.214.171.124 in place.

Please do not let Norton use the Login option. They did that on my computer when I called on how to remove pop ups that I had been seeing for a couple of weeks. The tech logged into my computer and used the Norton erase and said they would restart my computer - it never restarted because the erased my windows files. I had to take it to a professional to fix and it cost me over $100. Norton said they didn't remove it but the tech told me that they couldn't have been in my computer without the Windows file. Norton refused to take responsibility and asked for a report from the tech but told me that it wouldn't change the outcome of their investigation which was "not there fault". DO NOT LET THEM INTO YOUR COMPUTER.
Sunil_GA, I manually stopped the Host Process in question and the update completed. I also got an unrelated error message on another computer but it finally updated.

Thanks - and I won't allow that in the future. I just assumed that they knew what they were doing. I think what really bothered me was that they refused to consider that they made a mistake. It just seems that if I want a security company I would want one that is honest
Good news Marc, just curious as to whether a simple restart was performed to allow the update to install. I had your issue on one of my machines and a restart completed the updates.
I did do a restart just because I had shut down "Host Process for Setting Synchronization". But the update finished before I did the restart.
I think the thing to focus on is not the solution but the fact there was a problem in the first place. Hopefully future updates will not have the same issues. I just wanted to report what happened here so Norton would be aware and they could work to prevent the issue in future updates.
