PC Anywhere Install Help

Hi Everybody. I'm trying to install PC Anywhere on my iMac to connect to my work computer. My iMac is running OS X v10.5.8 and I have both Safari (4.0.4) and Firefox (3.05) installed on this machine. The work computer is running Windows XP Pro.

So, my problem is that when I try to install PC Anywhere (cross platform: SetupLinuxMac.jar) both the typical and custom install options want to install ThinHost, but the total size is 0 KB. Therefore not installing ANYTHING.

Anybody have any suggestions? What am I missing? I do remember reading that JAVA Virtual Machine is required for this to work. Mac's have their own version of JAVA, so I don't know if this is the problem, but I have the most current version. Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Re: PC Anywhere Install Help

Thanks x190av for the link, but my install was still UN-successful. I did alter the Java settings per this links instructions, but upon trying to install the software again, I still received the same message as before Thin Host 0KB.

Now, it looks like the install file (SetupLinuxMac.jar) is only for Java. There is no .app file to install on this pcAnywhere 12.0 disk. Is that the problem?

Hi Sandra,

Please note that I'm just a fellow Norton products user trying to give you some pointers while you wait for Symantec employees to return from their weekend.

Quote from Symantec knowledge base article:

  PCANYWHERE CROSSPLATFORM
======================================================================
pcAnywhere CrossPlatform is supported on Windows, Linux, and Mac
operating systems. Version 1.4.2 or higher of the Sun Java Runtime
Environment is required to run pcAnywhere CrossPlatform.

To install pcAnywhere CrossPlatform on Mac operating systems, you
must be logged in with root credentials.

 The steps for creating a linux and Mac thin host are the same but deployment will be slightly different

Good Luck,
