Phoning customer service

I called a number I found on Norton's website for customer service.  1-800-754-6034.  I know that was the number listed and I know I dialed it correctly.  But suddenly I was getting marketing questions for medicare insurance, car service, and several others.  The pitch was made and I was told to hit 1 for more info or #.  If I hit # another ad started.  I bailed and went to chat but when she asked for my email address I asked her if that was typical experience for someone calling customer service.  I got a weird reply to that and bailed on the chat also.  Is getting those marketing offers really what happens when calling customer service or did I just enter some sort of twilight zone?

Did you call 1-800-754-6034 OR 1-800-745-6034?

What is your geo-location? United States?

Re: Phoning customer service

Good grief.  I did dial 754 instead of 745.  Thanks for clearing that up.

I found this thread to be interesting and entertaining.

Good detective work by bjm_  for sure.

A simple error that caused much confusion as to whether Norton support was out there in the twilight zone.
