I restarted the computer and the ad has not reappeared but it should not have been there in the first place and if it had been asked for I should have been able to close it. As far as I am concerned, it's malware, albeit more of an irritant than anyting else. Way to go Norton marketing!

Re: Pop-up ad from Norton will not close

I've asked my contacts at Norton whether this was legit or not and about the inability to get rid of it except by rebooting.

Let's see what comes back.

Open NIS and go into the settings, turn off "Special Offer Notification"

Re: Pop-up ad from Norton will not close

Hi closeappad.

I am puzzled by this.  Though it appears that it has now gone away.  Please let us know if it comes back and if it does try to post a screen shot.

Norton Mobile Utilities (NMU) should be downloaded from Google Play so it taking you there seems reasonable, but it would then be expected that you loaded it onto an Android device.  So the fault seems to be with the persistent pop-up which looks like a fault - hopefully temporary.

I will draw the issue to the attention of the NMU team but given the issue seems to have arisen in the use of Norton Internet Security (which I do not have loaded) I am not proposing to move this thread to the NMU forum.
