Re: Pop up adds

Looks like Slimware is a partner for other organizations too. The image on the PC Mag web site shows they are a Microsoft Partner.   https://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2485485,00.asp

On what device did you get this pop up? What web site were you on  when you got it? An exact URL would be very helpful.

Re: Pop up adds

I was on a dell laptop. Last pop up came up on my yahoo home page. I removed all places I could find referencing this software. Your mention of Microsoft gave me a start. Thanks

Re: Pop up adds

I asked about your device as you posted in the Mobile Products forum, mostly used for Android and IOS apps. Thus my confusion.

What you may have seen is a pop up from a maliciously coded ad on the yahoo page. These have been reported many times in the past. To help protect against these malicious ads, you should install an ad blocker extension in your browser.

As for having installed it, then removed it, I would do a full system scan with your Norton product. Then I would suggest a second opinion scan using the FREE version of Malwarebytes. You can find it here http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free/

Be sure you do not accept the offer of the free trial of the Premium version.
