'Post Message' Rich Text Editor - 'Insert Image' disabled

Vista Home Premium SP2

NIS 2011 18.1.0.33

I'm having trouble inserting images into my posts via the Forum's Rich Text Editor's  'Insert//edit image' icon on the PC that has the NIS 2011 beta installed. The 'Select a file' button no longer offers a 'Browse' option; just a red 'x':

Any ideas? Do I need to change a browser setting (Internet Explorer 8)?

The Browse button is appearing for me in both IE8 and Firefox 3.6.8. I'm inclined to think it was just a server issue unless it still isn't working for you... Looks like you were still able to insert an image.

I inserted the image using a different PC.

It still isn't working on the PC with the beta installed.

Hello elsewhere,

Make sure you're running the latest version of flash. Also, uninstall NIS and see if the problem goes away (if reinstalling Flash doesn't work). That's a good way to see if NIS is causing any problems. You could also check the Security History for anything suspicious when you try to insert an image.

Re: 'Post Message' Rich Text Editor - 'Insert Image' disabled

Hello Tim

I'm running the latest version of Flash(10,1,82,76). I've uninstalled it and reinstalled Flash, however the problem still exists. I also tried uninstalling/reinstalling NIS 2011, including using the Norton Removal Tool but that didn't fix the problem either.

Interestingly enough, the PC without the issue is using Flash version 10,1,53,64. Which version of Flash are you using? It looks like the Flash player isn't loading at all in the 'Insert image' dialog box. If I left-click on the 'Select a File' link, nothing happens. If I right-click on this link and choose 'Open' then the following error is displayed:

An Unexpected Error has occurred.

Hello elsewhere,

Did you try this without NIS installed?

Re: 'Post Message' Rich Text Editor - 'Insert Image' disabled

Yes, I did but it didn't resolve the issue.

The 'Unexpected Error' message I posted earlier was generated by the Forum. Did the Exception ID give your development team any ideas as to what may be the problem?

Hi elsewhere,

This looks like it's not related to the 2011 products.

Feel free to post about this in the Forum Feedback board - http://community.norton.com/t5/Forum-Feedback/bd-p/forum_feedback

Hi Tim

Please move this thread to Forum Feedback board.

Do you have any updates in relation to the questions I asked earlier regarding the Flash Player version and the error being generated by the Forum software?

Thanks

Hi,

I'm running the latest version of Flash(10,1,82,76) too on Win 7 prof 32 Bit and all works fine.

Tried today some IE and Flash Player settings, but could not reproduce your problem.

Re: 'Post Message' Rich Text Editor - 'Insert Image' disabled

Thanks for testing this, Jo.

It looks like the problem (on my PC anyway) is related to the user account type being used to browse the Forum. If I log in to the Forum using an account with Administrator privileges, the 'Insert Image' feature works fine. If I log on using a Standard User account, the feature no longer works (as per the screenshot in my first post). As I mentioned earlier, the previous version of Flash works fine and allows me to insert images while using a Standard User account.

Were you using a Standard User account when you tried to reproduce the problem earlier?

Hello elsewhere,

for going online to the web I'm using always a Standard User account.

When trying to reproduce the problem earlier a Standard User account plus an admin account were used.
