Hallo World, I paid 20 EUR more for Norton in 2020 automatically and had no idea. I need to know how much the automatic subscription is each year BEFORE I pay it. Does everyone agree? Norton just take what they want. What a great way to get money. It is good for Norton but not for the subscribers!

Users are supposed to receive email notification before payment pull.
Users report automatic renewal payment pull 30-45 days before current term expiry.
Norton product subscriptions are recurring term subscriptions.
Users may cancel recurring term subscription. Your product subscription continues until current term expiry. Users are responsible for making payment for next subscription term.
Note: new subscription license from third-party starts new subscription term.
Automatic Renewal is not a user loyalty discount program.
Automatic Renewal is a convenience service.
Users may cancel Automatic Renewal service.
Users may cancel recurring term subscription.
Automatic Renewal cost thru Norton direct may be more $ than cost from reputable third-party vendors.
Users may request refund within 60 days of automatic renewal. You may discuss price paid with Norton Official Support.
Users may discuss not receiving email notification with Norton Official Support.

Norton subscriptions are recurring term subscriptions. Norton subscription requires user account and user payment method for recurring subscription service. Virus Protection Promise requires user activate automatic renewal
Norton subscription purchase includes Automatic Renewal Service. At the end of Your Service Period, the Service will be renewed and Your payment method will be charged the then-current renewal price (plus applicable taxes) automatically, without any additional action by You. At any time after Your purchase, You may change Your subscription settings, including cancelling Your automatic renewal, at my.norton.com.

NEVER resubscribe to Norton.
ALWAYS go into your Norton account immediately after purchase and account creation and TURN OFF automatic renewals.
ALWAYS buy a brand new subscription to whatever products you use at the steep discounts offered by resellers. As an example, my 10 device Norton 360 subscription is up for renewal this month (Feb 2022) for Norton's discounted price of $114.99 US versus regular price of $124.99. Norton's own discounted price for a brand new 2022 version is $54.99. Best Buy sells it for $99.99. Amazon's price is $39.99. And that is what I found out just now with only a cursory front page Google search. I have pointed out this disconnect between their marketing and product loyalty policies to them for years now, and it's only been in one year (2018 0r 2019) that I think they lowered the resubscribe price to that of their lowest reseller's new product price of $29.99. Maybe catching unaware customers like you and acting like any other scum internet marketed product garners them more bottom line than having aware customers purchasing new products annually loses them revenue.
It is a bit of a chore to go into each connected device and substitute the new product key, but an annoyance I gladly put up with, year after year. I also don't think they'll try and make opting out of automatic renewals a condition of use...they'd lose too much business to rivals. Same way they won't screw over their resellers.

Norton try and scare you to death when you cancel automatic renewal! Be brave. Just do it. And then buy new. Ta da. I hope this closes this thread. It would be honorable if Norton sent a mail before automatic renewals but that is obviously too much to ask. It is up to us to be always aware they are trying to scare and scam us and so we do business with online companies. Intimidation on the Internet is NORMAL behaviour!

An interesting new question pops up actually. I just cancelled automatic subscription. A pop-up asked me if I wanted a manual continued subscription. No price mentioned. I did not click this because risky. Could land suddenly back in automatic subscriptions! But what does a manual automatic continuation cost? Does this ever end. No wonder people just pay the extra.

Yeah, I got a new laptop and I'm trying to decide whether to uninstall and remove my old laptop license or just buy another. If I knew the price of adding two more licenses, and if they automatically were prorated to expire with the other three (annoying to have them all expiring at different times) it would be helpful in my decision.
But if I wanted to just transfer it, I assume I'd just go to "manage my devices" and after uninstalling on my older computer, I would remove that device and license, then install it on my new computer. But as logical as that would be, this sort of thing can get you charged for another license, even if you go through the appropriate steps of uninstalling the old one and removing it, corporations being how they are.
I agree with the original post. One, we need pricing for added licenses, the option to prorate (which they do with other stuff) as to synchronize renewals, and clear instructions on changing licenses if we get a new computer.
