Re: problem launching norton antivirus

Hi jkfall156

Try these suggestions below in the order they appear.

Try restarting your computer a few times.

Check for Norton updates manually or right click the Norton icon in the task bar and click, run live updates, and then recheck until there are no more updates restarting the computer as required.

Try running autofix by clicking the Norton icon, click support, click get support (or right click the Norton icon in the task bar and click Get support) let it run then restart the computer.  It should tell you if any items where fixed.  If you get an error message about MBAM then just click on skip on the error screen.

Have you or have you ever had any other security software including any trial security software on the computer including Norton?  If yes then stop here and repost with what it is, if no then proceed with the next step.

You may have a corrupt installation of the Norton product.

Download and run the Norton remove and reinstall tool.

Norton remove and reinstall tool download link below.

www.Norton.com/nrnr

After running the Norton removal and reinstall tool, run live updates as many times as it takes to get, no more live updates, restarting as requested.

You might like to backup the personal data and you’ll need to backup or export in both formats your identity safe and any other users identity safe if it is used, before doing the above.

Check that your graphics drivers are up to date.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

Hi jkfall156

Can you answer these two questions please?

Have you or have you ever had any other security software on the computer.

Most computers come with trial security software, what was on your computer?

Re: problem launching norton antivirus

Welcome back.

If you are still seeing the same issue you should try a reinstall using the Norton Removal tool. This will do a more thorough uninstall in case there was something from the old install causing this issue.

Download the Norton Removal Tool from here   www.norton.com/nrt
If you use Identity Safe, backup/export your data. Use the CSV format for compatibility.
Uninstall your Norton product with Windows control panel.
Reboot.
Run the Norton Removal Tool.
Reboot.
Log into your Norton Account from here   www.account.norton.com
Click on the Download button beside your current product subscription. This will download and install a preactivated copy of your product.
Run LiveUpdate manually a few times, rebooting as necessary, until no updates are available.
Try to log into your Identity Safe. If you can, you are done. If not, Import your Identity Safe data.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.
