Re: Product will not open on my MAC

Did additional research and found further community info and the following support link.  This helps resolves the issue.  Nice to view 'faulted' system files actively removed using the terminal control and then enjoying the correct Norton 360 re-install with subsequent access.  Access and view link below:

To completely remove all Norton application files and references on your Mac, download and run the RemoveNortonMacFiles tool.

Before running the RemoveNortonMacFiles tool, make sure that you have uninstalled the Norton device security product on your Mac.

  1. On your Mac, click the Finder icon  in the dock, and then click Applications in the left pane under Favorites section.
  2. Find the Norton application icon, and drag it to the Trash or Bin.

  3. Click Continue.

  4. When prompted, type your administrator account password, and then click OK.

  5. In the window that appears, click Uninstall.

  6. When prompted, type your administrator account password, and then click Install Helper.

  7. Click Restart Now.

RemoveNortonMacFiles removes all the folders that Norton installers created, and all the files within those folders including any that you have created.

  1. Download the file.

  2. Click the Finder icon  in the Dock.
  3. In the Finder window, click Downloads in the left pane under Favorites.

  4. Do one of the following:

    • If you downloaded the file using Safari browser, open the RemoveNortonMacFiles folder.

    • If you downloaded the file using the Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome browsers, double-click the file to expand it, and then open the RemoveNortonMacFiles folder.

  5. In the RemoveNortonMacFiles folder, control-click the RemoveNortonMacFiles.command file, and then click Open with > Terminal (default).

To run this tool, you must be logged on with an Administrator account and a non-blank password.

  6. Do one of the following:

    • If you have not uninstalled Norton application on your macOS 10.15.x or later, a message appears in the Terminal window that prompts to drag and drop Norton from Applications folder to Trash. Go to step 7.

    • If you have macOS 10.14.x and earlier, OR if you already uninstalled your Norton product on your macOS 10.15.x or later, go to step 13.

  7. In the Terminal window, press return to open the Applications folder in Finder.

  8. In the Applications folder, select the Norton application, and then drag and drop it to the Trash.

  9. When you see a prompt, type your administrator account password, and then click OK.

  10. In the Norton installer window, click Uninstall.

  11. If you see a prompt, type your administrator account password, and then click Install Helper.

  12. When the uninstall finishes, run the RemoveNortonMacFiles.command file in Terminal again.

For more information, refer to the instructions in step 5 above.

  13. In the Terminal window, type your administrator password, and then press return.

When you type your password, no characters appear.

  14. To remove all Norton files and folders, type 1.

If you want to quit RemoveNortonMacFiles without removing any files, type 2.

  15. Press return.

RemoveNortonMacFiles tool removes all of the Norton files.

  16. When the RemoveNortonMacFiles tool finishes removing the Norton files, in the Terminal window, type y, and press return to restart your Mac.

Before you press return, make sure that you save your work in other open applications.

Reinstall a fresh Norton 360.

Re: Product will not open on my MAC

I followed these instructions to a T on my MacBook Pro, Catalina 10.15.7 operating system. No help after seven or so attempts. When I try to activate the uninstaller, it says"RemoveNortonMacFiles.command" cannot be opened because it is from an unidentified developer. Below that it says macOS cannot verify that this app is free from malware. Next step anyone?

Re: Product will not open on my MAC

I am running Mac OS Monterey 12.2.1 and Norton 360 9.0.13.... Well, I am trying to run it. So for the past couple days when I open Norton 360 I get a "PENDING" screen and it never opens. I have had problems over the past several months with Norton and believe that it is time to look elsewhere for my security. At this price it should be idiot proof, and I'm no idiot. I have used Norton for something probably in excess of 20 years and their customer care has plummeted in that time period to the point where it is pretty much useless now.

Also, I have tried to remove Norton from my system without success. Much like others, when i try to open the Removal Tool, the system won't allow me to as it is "From an UNKNOWN DEVELOPER". Really? It is Norton's program, at least in theory. I did manage to open it once but it gives me a "key" symbol where you enter the Admin Password and when I type in the password, knowing it won't show, it says wrong password. I have concerns that my system hasn't been protected for long enough that now it has been hacked and the virus is blocking access to Norton so that I can't repair the damaged program... So hundreds of dollars wasted. Of course I get spam on a weekly, almost daily basis about my renewal of Norton........ Anyway, less than amused. NORTON< Would you please reach out and see what we can do??

Re: Product will not open on my MAC

I cannot get Safe Web Plus to work. It just sits there and spins. This happened after I tried to link it to Google ... but the instructions to unlink it don't work.

Re: Product will not open on my MAC

I've got exactly the same problem, I've tried doing the solution they have suggested and what a surprise it doesn't work. Works fine of my Microsoft laptop, but it just won't start on my iMac running Monterey 12.2.1 just continually says "Pending". This has been going on for far too long, perhaps Norton need to invest more time sorting out their products for Mac users?

Re: Product will not open on my MAC

Same problem, already uninstalled and reinstalled twice in recent weeks

Mac OS updated, and now back to Norton not opening

Mac OS Catalina 10.15.7
