Are you a Comcast customer?

If so it appears you have downloaded the Constant Guard Protection Suite as well s the Norton Security Suite from Comcast.

Please let us know if that is the case and we'll give you a plan of attack to get it all it all cleaned up for you.

Re: Protection Suite

Yes I am a Comcast customer  here is what has been done regarding the two programs. I contacted Comcast Signature Service who gave me two links..one to uninstall the products and another to reinstall.  Personally I only wanted Norton virus protection, but I clicked the link to uninstall and of course computer suggests restart.  I restart and realize I lost second link. I go into my computer and try uninstalling myself.  I get a message telling me file cannot be uninstalled(cannot remember full message) and said this was an (x86) file.  I text comcast through "chat" and am told I must have a virus because the pop up is trying to access my financial institutions? That made no sense to me, I just wanted the programs deleted.  Long story short....after 3 and 1/2 hours on the phone and chat, I was left with the only resolution being, If I joined Comcast Signature Service for 79.99 membership fee and 19.95 a month they would go into my computer and find out what the problem is. I refused.  All I wanted was NORTON VIRUS PROTECTION and I got a couple programs from Comcast that has put my home PC in danger by being unprotected.  I followed their suggestions on how to uninstall and now they won't help me unless I buy a protection plan.  How can I get rid of Constant Guard forever?

Thanks for your time on this....I really appreciate it

Re: Protection Suite

Hi again jpennzgar,

Do not pay for the Signature  Service - in most cases we will be able to get it all cleaned up without you spending any money.

OK - I think I got this all straight in my head.  Bottom line you want to get rid of CGPS (Constant Guard Protection Suite), but want to maintain NSS (Norton Security Suite).

Please bear with me, as this may seem like a long drawn out process, but it should provide you with exactly what you are after:

First of all, Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs (Programs & Features in Vista/Win7).  Locate each/every of the following and uninstall them - rebooting after each uninstall.  Constant Guard Protection Suite,  Guarded ID, ID Vault, Xfinity/Comcast Toolbar and CA Pest Patrol Realtime.  Please note that this should leave NSS installed and worjking just fine.

Once you accomplish the above, please post back and let us know the status of your system.  If you run into difficulty with the above please tell us exactly what you encounter - there are other ways we can assist you - and of course the price is right - free!
