PST file cannot be restored

Hi all

I deleted the login profile to my Surface Pro and created a new one.  I didn't realise this would also remove all of my Outlook settings so I had to create a new Outlook profile.

As a result, all of my previous emails, contacts, calendars, etc no longer exist.  I thought a logical solution would be to restore my PST file from my Norton 360 back-up. I can locate & select the PST file but I get a message saying the security settings are preventing the restore.  I tried to restore to another file location but get the same result.

Any ideas please?

Re: PST file cannot be restored

If your trying to replace the new pst file in the appdata\local\......... folder it's not going to work.

Try restoring it to your desktop and then use Outlook to import everything into the new data file.

Option #2

Create a new folder somewhere, the new folder will "inherit" the file permissions for the new user you created.  Then restore the .pdt into that folder and use Outlook to import everything.

Thanks Dave, unfortunately this does not work.

If your backup is on the Norton server, try getting the pst file from one of these links (sign in with the same Norton account associated with the backup).
