Re: Put an Option in norton setting to remove the facebook icon of the toolbar

Hi gibby95,

Join the club.  We asked Symantec to give us the ability to disable the 'Share' button while the 2013 products were still in Beta testing,  but they did not listen.

http://community.norton.com/t5/Norton-360-2013-Norton-Internet/Share-button-in-the-toolbar/td-p/772826

We have asked again since the 2013 products have been released.

I hope they listen to their customers.

Cheers,

Dave

This is not a solution. A solution would be for Symantec to actually listen to all the beta testers and customers and give us the option to disable the Facebook icon in the toolbar.

Hi winapps,

I agree and have asked the Moderators if this thread could be marked as NOT solved.

Cheers,

Dave

I agree as well. I don't use Facebook, don't want to see facebook. Those of us who feel this way

should be given the option to customize the toolbar & not be locked into wasting space on something

we have no use for. In fact all I really want on the toolbar is Identity Safe (Vault Open) w/ logins & larger folders.
Move all the other options over to the Login Assistant tab. Keep it Simple.

I only marked as a solution because i joined the other thread and added my comment.

But anyways this thread can stay open until they fix it!

No problem and no offence meant. I just wanted people to know that there wasn't an actual solution and that they could keep posting about what Symantec has done to a once great security application. They need to bring back the local vault too. I could have probably worded it a little better though. What they've done to Identify Safe and the Toolbar just sticks in my craw.

Yea they actually seemed to have removed many features from this version its actually ridiculous.

Annoying Facebook Icon On Toolbar

No more Offline Identity safe (Forced Online Cloud Storage

Horribly New Windows 8 Interface and themes

(Version 2012 is actually much better currently)

I agree with everyone in totality. I am sticking with my beloved NIS 2012 for awhile longer. I guess when I do upgrade, I'll be making posts left and right in here like everyone else ... asking what's the matter with this, asking what's the matter with that. Not looking forward to it.

To Symantec: Is there some sort of strange thinking going on, by leaving the facebook feature in place, that users who dislike facebook, might actually become curious and want to partake in facebook activities?

Would it actually be that difficult to institute an option to disable it from view, in a near future update?

There is an enormous generation of us out here who are older, in which facebook is at the bottom of the totem pole in importance.

Asking you kindly to re-consider the decision that was made.

Ed

Heartily agree!  It seems that those of us who dislike these so called social network sites like Facebook are not to be granted the option of disabling these links..

Well said. Social networking sites stand for everything wrong with society today.

I hate the icon too but I can see why they added it only for a user convenience but they should 100% give the user the options to have it or not.. I have to guess that Facebook and the other servers paid Norton to have that and I think it is wrong as we have to pay $50+ every year for the product.  I would understand why that would be the case for the free version.

If you feel like I helped you or anyone else please give kudos and accept the answer as answered.
