Question about how to update virus definition manually in mobile device

Hi expert,

Due to security reason, my client mobile device cannot be connected to the internet. Therefore, I would like to know how to update the anti-virus update definition manually through USB cable connection from desktop to mobile device. Once the virus definition file copied to the device, how to trigger the Norton anti-virus App update it.

Thanks

Re: Question about how to update virus definition manually in mobile device

There is no manual way to update definitions on mobile devices. If you are not connecting to the internet, you should not have many worries. The only possible attacks might come from email. But almost all email attacks are targeted to Windows computers. Very few if any are targeting Android OS.

Thank you for your replies. Becuase the handheld device is using in house of detention. Thus, we rebuilt OS rom to disable the Wi-Fi/3G/4G network connection. Only one way to update the Anti-Virus definition file that is using the cable. Is that really no any way to update it ?

The only way to update definitions would be the way you used to install the app from the Google Play store.

As there is no way for the device to connect to the internet, there is no way for malware to attack the device. You should not even need any security app on the device.

Re: Question about how to update virus definition manually in mobile device

Thank you for your replies. There're some data and files that will be regularly copied to the handheld device using by internal custom App, thus, anti-virus protection is necessary. It seems there's no way to update the definition file manually, may be as you thought it should not be happened thanks again

Re: Question about how to update virus definition manually in mobile device

What kind of data is being transferred? Are these files created on, then transferred from a PC? If so, just be sure you scan the files on the PC before transferring. If they are clean before being transferred to the mobile device, there is, again, no need for security software on the mobile.
