I got hit with "poki" ransomware last night. It wiped out all of my files instantly. Norton did not stop it. So beware that it is out there.
While being extremely effective against financial malware and very good in overall malware blocking, it appears that Norton needs a bit of fine-tuning in blocking ransomeware. But NS is not alone in that category.
See page 11:
Did you have a backup to replace your system?
Yes, thank goodness, I use Carbonite on the cloud, so I got all the files back
I had posted a link to a MRG Effitas Test stating that Norton needed a bit of tweaking on blocking ransomware.
The test I linked to was not the most recent -- it was for the 2nd Quarter, 2016. That is not the latest test -My Bad.
In the 3rd Quarter Test NS Blocked 100% of ransomeware samples :-)
