Re: May 16 Update from Norton Family Team

Two things:

1) When you post an update message, please post what the updated version number is? OK, I already figured it out, it's But in the future, please post it so we don't have to guess.

2) I'm still having problems pulling in the update. What do I have to do to get it to update? I've got a bunch of PC's here still stuck on I ran Liveupdate - no luck. And yet other PC's seem to pull it in all by themselves. It seems the harder I try, the harder it is to get. Doing a manual update doesn't always work either. And when I do nothing, it comes in.

Needless to say, this is very frustrating. 'cause I have to update Java to version 7 on a whole bunch of machines, but I can't do it until NOF updates itself to And when that's gonna be is anyone's guess. This isn't rocket science. HOW DO I GET THE UPDATE TO INSTALL, FIRST TIME, EVERY TIME? Is that too much to ask?????

Can you address this, because I've brought this problem up several times before.

Re: Re: May 16 Update from Norton Family Team

Hi dbdan22,

Please remove the file as indicated below from your PCs and try to download Norton Family again to see if this helps.

Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\Norton\{NF22-B22-4abb-B07C-C084B04B4F12}

Windows 7 : C:\Users\Public\Downloads\Norton\{NF22-B22-4abb-B07C-C084B04B4F12}

Windows 8: C:\Users\Public\Downloads\Norton\{NF22-B22-4abb-B07C-C084B04B4F12}

Windows Vista: C:\Users\Public\Downloads\Norton\{NF22-B22-4abb-B07C-C084B04B4F12}

Thanks Katie

Re: Re: May 16 Update from Norton Family Team

OK, but you see, downloading it is really a pain, because you guys chose to put the download link INSIDE the password protected part of the site. Why you just couldn't put the download link right on the Start page, I don't know. But no, I have to log in first. Multiply that by "x" PC's and it really becomes a pain. And then sometimes it doesn't pull in the latest version. So now I have to go deleteing folders first. Great! Fantastic.

Of course the preferred way to do this is to have Liveupdate do it. As in Manual Liveupdate. Start / All Programs / Norton Internet Security / LiveUpdate. And if it sees that it has to update Online Family, then do it. What's the matter, you guys don't talk to the antivirus folks?

C'mon now. You finally fixed the problem with Java after a year. How about making NOF work with Liveupdate now?

Perhaps by Christmas?
