Re: Norton Identity Safe is now Norton Password Manager

Fantastic.

How do you turn it off?

For a public computer, used by multiple people, you do NOT want to ask them if they want to save passwords.

Is it possible to turn Password Manager off, and not be nagged to death like Identity Safe does?

Thanks.

Re: Re: Norton Identity Safe is now Norton Password Manager

I have confronted some of the same issues.  Norton Idendity Safe/Password Manager does not "by default" disable the password management now being built into Edge, Chrome, and Firefox.  Even if you knew how to tell it to not save passwords, you must still check any and all browsers that are hosted by the KIOSK computer to insure that they are not capturing passwords and... this is the tough one, shut off to being re-enabled to save id and password whenever a user enters one on their way to common email services like Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo, AIM, etc., etc.

I would love to use a tool that easily and completely "locked down" a Windows 10 Home installation that permits users to download things that they want to but prevents them from inadvertently saving their identities in the process.  Social Engineering in the development community is working against us!

The Password Manager will only save information to an open vault. A user needs the email address and password for the Norton Account related to the vault, then the vault password.

If this is a public computer, just uninstall the Norton Password Manager extension from the browsers.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

Re: Re: Norton Identity Safe is now Norton Password Manager

I have Identity Safe on my IE11 browser - it's always switched on - but it hasn't changed to Password Manager. What must we do to get Password Manager? Even signing in here today brought up the Identity Safe. Will you be changing that?

I haven't got Identity Safe on my main browser, Edge. I've asked in MS Community how do I add a task bar in Edge.[Bet I can't - that's why IE11 still remains my favourite browser - so much better.]

All browser developers are moving away from Toolbars, in favor of separate extensions. Edge is no exception.

Re: Re: Norton Identity Safe is now Norton Password Manager

The name change rollout is being throttled so it is not too overwhelming for customers and customer support.  So, some may see it and others may not, but you can certainly manually update if you wish.

Right now we support FF, Chrome, Safari, Edge and have apps for Android, iOS.

We are now really a cross browser tool vs. a "Windows" application.  So, you should upgrade to the new extension called Norton Password Manager which syncs to your mobile apps.

As for it being installed on a public computer- I'd say that is odd and not recommended.  Rightly mentioned above the product is associated with a Norton Account which also has a password and 2FA if the user chooses to set it up (obviously we'd recommend that).  We do not side load extensions as the stores do not allow that behavior. So, someone installed it on the "public computer."

You can disable or remove the extension from the browser extension settings.
