I have been using Norton for more years than I can count. In the last year or so, Norton has made it near impossible to renew a subscription with one that I purchased at an authorized reseller (e.g. Amazon). Keys are no longer provided. In the past, I have entered the key for the new license and updated the software if necessary. Now it insists on my uninstalling what I have (losing what is left of my subscription) and moving the new subscription to Norton and reinstalling. It also seems to have me do this a couple of times.
I am so sick of this business practice, that when I use my last license, I will never buy Norton again. I am now using MalwareBytes in parallel with Norton. Your upselling and preventing users from buying the software from other sources appear to be turning off many other customers. Another thread on the same issue was locked, presumably because it suggested moving on. I have had LifeLock independently for a number of years and will be switching to another service, just because of your business practices.
Why you destroy a product and alienate your customers is beyond anybody's guess, but you have done it. Last year I loaded my license to the Norton server as I have done for years, but your new disgusting business practice started the subscription as soon as I uploaded it, not waiting for me to install it on a machine.
I'm done with Norton. How many others have the same feelings?
