btswein wrote: Got the update also. I'm running Windows 7 Professiona 32bit. While using Mozilla Firefox v.3.5.7, the icons for Back, Forward, Reload, Stop, and Home magically don't show up anymore. Their is text their that I can click on, but the physical icons don't show. Worked fine until I installed the new update.
Just to be clear, you mean these icons, correct?
Has anyone else seen this while running Windows 7 and Firefox 3.5.7?
Can you launch Firefox, click on View, Select Toolbars and click Customize. On the bottom left is a Show drop-down menu. Can you ensure it is set to Icons?
Can you show us a screenshot of the Main User Interface? Also, could you verify the version number?
Just got the Update to 184.108.40.206.
Had to do a restart.
Also had to select the option 'Show Icon and Notifications', in 'Task Bar and Start Menu Properties', to get Icon back on taskbar.
Using Win 7 + NIS 2010
Hi First post, but have been watching the forums for months (Well since October, and signed up within the last couple weeks) and the info supplied here by the informative members has helped me rid my 5 year old desktop of many viruses. Since August I have been using the present my hubby got me for my B-day...
The computer I am reporting about is an HP Pavillion Notebook running vista 64bit. I have heard that things are incompatable with 64 bit but NIS2009 came on the lappy as a trial then I bought the NIS2010, better than having none. So far its sweet. Oh I use firefox 3.5.7 (all updates)
Just got the update 220.127.116.11 and did restart. Everything installed fine. I did a quick scan before taking the new update and nothing found, did another quick scan after update and restart and it found 56 tracking cookies. So currently doing a full scan seeing if anything runs amuk.
Right off the bat, it appears that the tracking cooking detection is faster and more thorough. Quick scan never found more than 8 and full scan always found more. But getting 56 tracking cookings on a quick scan was amazing.
Another thing I noticed was that when looking through history on NIS10, what would normally appear as "Connected to a Secure network". Ok I saw that it was fine, then right after it showed " Connected to a shared network" which I never saw before...I am pretty sure that the IP is my router, but having never seen that norton warning before I put it on restrict anyway. Since we don't share a printer or files in my house. But I do have my lappy, a desktop, Wii, and a DSi all connected to the same network, so it is shared and it is protected. So I don't know. Guess its all good.
So is there new network detection protocols in this current update on 2010?
p.s. After I updated my lappy, I went to update my pinto of a desktop and the update wasn't available for it. So is that normal? You can update one computer on a subscription but not the other when the test updates go out?
Anyway, I am not techy (obvious) but since I did get the new update and have been signed up I felt could possibly respond to this thread. Sorry if the information I gave was unclear or useless. Did my best for a 1st post :)
Edit: I read other posts that took place while I was typing out my long one and so to answer the firefox issue. My firefox is current and also is using themes and all my buttons and norton bar appear normal.
It appears you don't have the patch. Was this software just recently installed?
Here is a post on attaching images - http://community.norton.com/norton/board/message?board.id=forum_feedback&view=by_date_ascending&message.id=1366#M1366
Good call Tim, works great now! Thanks!
You can use the Snipping Tool in the Accessories section to make a screenshot. Was this a recent installation of NIS? Do you still have the installation files?
I posted earlier that I received the update to 18.104.22.168 on my Windows 7 Prof. computer
But I can not get it on my XP sp3 computer.
This is on the same 3 user PC account..
Is it released for XP yet, or is this a problem ??
ok here u go I think i still have the files
[edit: resized picture to correct page formatting]
heh yes the 22.214.171.124 patch :P
I also use FF 3.5.7... no problems with the buttons
It looks like you're on the first day of a 15-day trial period. If you want the English version, please download from http://www.norton.com/nis10 .
Again, was this a recent installation? Also, where did you purchase this?
I had 2 years left on it----just renewed a month ago----did it online---I had a renew code
Sorry - I think we're having difficulties communicating.
When did you initially install the 2010 product? Where did you initially purchase/download the 2010 product?
Shouldn't have there been some announcement as to the "basics" regarding the NAV/NIS 126.96.36.199 Update?
Some users in this thread have it already and I don't mind waiting - but I would like to know what it does.
Kindly advise and thanks.
Of course! We're still working on gathering this information, which is why I stated that "more information and details will be available shortly" (source)
Yes, I know.
I'm sure that this update will be very appreciated!
I just feel that pushing the update before knowing some details is a bit backward, IMO.
We're aware of the details, we're simply composing the announcement and getting all the required information together.
Thank you for your patience!
Totally agree with Plankton. Pushing the update (which I got almost immediately BTW---thanks) without release notes makes no sense.
In fact the update should (hope this happens in the future) include the download of a text file to desktop with release notes or some sort of flag where to find it.
