Scuba:

FYI - Mine downloaded a patch today through LU and 'so far' appears to have corrected the issue.  Not sure if it is a fluke or not, but things seem okay now.

Does Security History give details about the patch that Live Update downloaded?

Thanks,
Shane.

Re: Recent Update Disabled Firewall

All updates downloaded here. No effect. Red icon still there. :(

Re: Recent Update Disabled Firewall

The red icon goes away after uninstalling Norton like I did last night.

Re: Recent Update Disabled Firewall

Hi Everyone,

Norton Security 22.14.0.54 product update is being released in phased manner.  Please run LiveUpdate manually to receive this update. Please let us know if you still see "Windows Security Center displays 'Norton Firewall is OFF' status with Norton Antivirus"  issue after with applying latest update. Thanks

Re: Recent Update Disabled Firewall

Got the patch this morning.  22.14.0.54 solved the issue.  Windows 10 now reports "Firewall is on" and the Windows Defender icon has the green checkmark.

Good to see this is fixed, but disappointed that it took so long to fix a major error like this (losing the firewall for months).  This will be a factor in my decision on whether to continue with Norton or switch to someone else when this subscription is over.

Update 22.14.0.54 downloaded, giving me this error message:

After clicking the "Restart now" button, the error went away.

@Sunil_GA: can you please confirm if Norton Antivirus Online contains a firewall?

Thanks,
Shane.

Re: Recent Update Disabled Firewall

You can confirm this yourself by opening your Norton product. Then click on Settings. If you see a Firewall section, you have a firewall. If you do not see that section, there is no firewall.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

Re: Recent Update Disabled Firewall

After uninstalling Norton, then reinstalling it the next few days after to allow all updates to go through, I reinstalled Norton and I no problems with the Defender Firewall being turned off.  Everything is just fine now..

Re: Recent Update Disabled Firewall

Did this problem of the disabled Defender Firewall come up again for anyone after the resolution just last week? I too uninstalled and reinstalled Norton to get the Defender Firewall back on and everything had been working well the past week. However, the problem just came up yesterday and the Defender Firewall is off again with the red cross mark. @Sunil_GA, any thoughts?

Re: Recent Update Disabled Firewall

Same thing happened to me.   You just have to keep manually installing the updates through Norton, and that red X goes away.  Just click on update through Norton and it should work for you too.

Re: Recent Update Disabled Firewall

Yeah, I just thought to try that again after I posted my previous comment and the update came with a patch that resolved it and the Defender Firewall is back on. That didn't work yesterday though. I hope this is not going to be a recurring issue where the firewall gets turned off until the next manual update. Thanks for the response though @Newbie.
