Remote Management keeps turning on by itself

Hi there i was just wondering it it's normal for Remote Management in administrative settings to turn on by itself when you click on "view devices' under the "device security" section in the my norton website page. Is it supposed to turn on by itself when you click on the view devices button?.

I always have it disabled but it doesn't seem to respect that specific setting because it turns itself on every time you visit my devices under device security without your consent, which means i have to turn it off again after visiting and leaving the page. Surely that can't be normal. Is there anyway to permanently disable it so when you visit such pages in the "my norton" portal it doesn't turn that setting on?.

The only thing that the Remote Management setting is used for is to communicate with the Devices page in your Norton Account. It is not a remote connection where you can control a computer. And it can only be accessed from your Norton Account.

FWIW ~ I've observed the same as you report.  Remote Management toggles on upon visiting Devices page -> https://my.norton.com/extspa/devices/

I imagine there's a handshake between Norton product & Norton portal upon visiting Devices page. 
I imagine Remote Management is working as designed when Remote Management toggles on upon visiting Devices page.  

Norton Remote Management sends the health status of your device and other information to the My Norton portal. You can use the My Norton portal to view, manage, or explore Norton products and fix some protection issues with your device remotely. By default, Remote Management is turned off.

I'm not aware of a permanent Remote Management off.

Hmm so it's true, could there be a potential security problem with this? Like someone turning on remote simply by visiting those pages despite it being turned off on the users end (logged in of coarse), potentially i mean since i don't know the risks of such a thing so i can't say how likely it is. I'm not sure whats the point of having a toggle feature if it can be turned on just like that via a website visit.

Say going into your account through the browser on a pc which doesn't have any norton products installed and trigger remote management by simply just visiting those pages while logged in. Maybe the page should have a message popup asking you turn it on inside the program itself (user side) otherwise some of the remote stuff under devices might not be usable, this way there would be alittle bit of manual input on the user's side required instead of auto turning on through the websites side.

Like i said i don't know the potential problems with this but i hope it's not as severe as it sounds.

Thanks for the reply. I do have that but i think the point is it shouldn't toggle on the websites end automatically if they have the settings turned off in the program's side no matter what unless there is some consent involved within it, i feel like Symantec (NortonLifeLock) should rethink how to go about doing this.

Anyhow thanks for confirming that it does indeed turn on, appreciate it.
