Remote Management Taken Away

I am very upset that remote management has been taken away within the last 24 hrs. I appreciate being able to logon to my norton account and have the other computers including mine share when they are online and offline as well as notifying me when one of the computer needed updates and liveupdate run, I would remind everyone. I am very very very unsatisfied and EXTREMELY upset I cannot see when a computer is logged onto when I am not home. Like for example, if someone is using mine. I will know if its showing online. This is the sole reason I paid $65 and just renewed with norton bc i HAD that ability. You took that away with this crummy update. The new website is horrible. PLEASE HAVE THE WEB DEVELOPERS BRING BACK A COMPUTERS ONLINE AND OFFLINE STATUS IN REMOTE MANAGEMENT ON THE DEVICE SCREEN!!!! THANK YOU!!

Hi there! yea thats the screen I used to have but the changed the whole website interface and took it away. I do have it turned on and talked to tech support for norton. They told me to make a comment on this board.. Let me see if I can attach what it looks like now.

What browser are you using? Have you tried a different browser? Does it appear the same for each browser you use?

Hi there! It's google chrome. I login through my Iphone and same thing it looks like Norton had wrote on a page they updated their website. I'll have to try internet explorer later tonight when I get home from work. I hope they didn't take this away for ever. It was a great feature. And yes it's a windows pc. I can't seem to upload my iPhone screenshot

Re: Remote Management Taken Away

Using a mobile device is not a good idea since a mobile website is different from a full website. You need to try logging in from a pc using either Google Chrome, Firefox or Internet Explorer. So you are using Google Chrome for iOS? That is where the screen shot is from? Just like viewing this community is different on a mobile device.

Re: Remote Management Taken Away

Nah that's a screenshot from Windows PC on google chrome. I've accessed it from both my phone and pic before and it used to show. Now it doesn't anymore. It looks like Norton updated their whole website interface. It's frustrating I already know im protected by looking at the computers themselves. What I wanted was remote management for the online and offline status and stuff.

Hello

My Norton Management looks exactly like it always has looked with IE 11 on my computer. Perhaps it's Chrome that has made a change. Mine looks like bjm's screenshot.

Thanks.

Re: Remote Management Taken Away

Thanks hmm maybe Norton didn't make a change to everyone's yet. I'll try when I get home to see if it looks diff on IE. mine used to look like his shot but I even had a Norton tech go on my computer and they said looks like the website was changed and that's upsetting i liked the way it was. And they told me come on here to submit a complaint for the web developers to hopefully add the feature back to the new design

Re: Remote Management Taken Away

Just tried Internet Explorer and still the same thing. The website is obviously getting redesigned and overhauled and they need to keep the online and offline statuses under remote management. I already know I am protected on each machine and dont need it to just show "protected"  I want to know the status of each machine and if someone needs to run liveupdate and things also. I just hope Norton hears this and puts it back!!

Re: Remote Management Taken Away

I understand your concern but Live Update along with many other Norton tasks are fully automatic. No one has to run live update. It does it by itself.

Re: Remote Management Taken Away

Sorry not liveupdate but sometimes it would tell me computers weren't completely protected w an X and you'd have to go into the program and run a few tasks to clear it. Either way my main bother is seeing the on and offline status no longer showing up in remote management feature. It's really important to me and I hope Norton sees this and passes it on to their web developers as the technician told me to do and fixes this issue. I could only hope. It was nice knowing if people at home were online on my computer and when, when I'm not there. And for how long. The remote management sucks now :/ thanks for all the replies and help everyone. Guess it's a lost cause.

Re: Remote Management Taken Away

Hi cn2016,

I am not one to checkup on things unless I have a specific question (as in your case) or I get the dreaded Yellow exclamation point or Red X on my Norton  icon.

I did go to my More Protection > Manage My Protection and I have to agree with your - that site has taken on a new look.  It does not provide the Tabs for Devices, Services Etc as it used to.  It does present the Green Protected, for the different devices I have (one PC, One Laptop and two Android devices) - but lacks the Online (last on Online) Status previously shown.

If I may, I would suggest everyone has a look at their Manage My Protection to see what we are talking about here.

I am running Win 10 AV, using Norton Security Premium version 22.8.1.14 and IE 11.    I have looked through my Live Updates History and do not see where anything was downloaded unless it was part of the 22.8 upgrade under "Other bug fixes"?

I will try to bring this up to Norton.

Thanks for understanding! If you can please do bring up to Norton. I really enjoyed that feature esp when I have several people using my computers.

Hello

There are changes being made to the Manage website. Since this has just started being observed, we don't have the details about it. We should be getting more information about it shortly, although it is Thanksgiving Day on Thursday. There may not be any more information about it until next week. When we find out, we will let you know what is happening.

Thanks.

Re: Remote Management Taken Away

cn2016 - I'd like to add some information to flopot's above that was received from Norton as a result of my inquiry:

The changes being made to Norton Management have gone out to only a few customers so far, and have been increasing in numbers lately. LU didn't change it, it's a web experience. We're able to serve up a few different experiences for customers.

About the specific changes called out in this thread: I have no idea whether they are in the process of being rolled out, or whether they will not be included going forward. However, I'm in contact with the folks rolling it out, and I'll get some answers.

Thus not everyone will be not be seeing this, only a select few at the moment - that's why I suggested everyone have a look at their Manage My Protection to see if they can see what we are talking about here.

Re: Remote Management Taken Away

Thank you! I hope they can change mine back to the old way :( I have no way to get ahold of norton other than this forum to let them know about my dissatisfaction of whats going on with my web experience. It's awful. I like the old way better and wish mine hadn't changed like some of the other users here. It's too much on my eyes going on. I liked the simpler version. Another thing is at the top of the screen or when I login it is not registering I renewed and says I'm expired. Even the technicians know nothing about how to deal with any of this or know anything about it seems like. My whole online account and remote management is screwed up badly.

Hello cn2016

Have you tried going to Help on the main page and then click on Subscription Status and then check to see if it has been picked up. How did you renew it?

Thanks.

Re: Remote Management Taken Away

I renewed through my account before the website changed completely. It shows its renewed on the subscription page but this new website is so jacked up. It constantly says expired when I login and the technician took over my computer showed me its renewed still and to ignore it. Norton needs to fix whatever they did to my account page. I don't like it one bit :/  And i'm still stressed because its been nearly a week now I cant see when my computers are online when I am away from home and don't know what's going on. I wish they didn't change mine. This is so frustrating.

Or, does online simply means computer is turned on......just asking.

Re: Remote Management Taken Away

Means it is online I am pretty sure from what I've observed anyway while I'm creeping on the family from home, haha When I turn mine on and check from my phone (without my laptop being on internet just on) it observes my computer as being online status. It was a good tool to have without being too invasive. I just wish they would put this back on mine and don't know who else to contact about this. I was able to attach what mine now looks like. With names obviously blurred out.

Re: Remote Management Taken Away

Nah I tried that. I talked to the technician and it does nothing of what I want it to do she said. Not like what I had and wanted w seeing online status. Plus if I do family they would know I'm monitoring them anyway. I liked being able to do it without them knowing and seems family is far more invasive. remote management is now basically useless to me at this point, with what they changed mine out to. Very disappointed. Here is an attachment my old screen and what I want it back to..

Re: Remote Management Taken Away

Yeah, I thought that it would be similar too but it wasn't. The thing that bums me out the most is that I pay good money for Norton Antivirus, been a customer w them for maybe 15 years, I actively used everything in the account management and remote management pages consistently, and they go and do this and basically render me with a management account that is pretty much  useless. No info whatsoever, can't do or use anything on it. It just simple tells me "protected" and nothing more. The layout isnt bad if they wanted to update that, but geez, the least they can do is keep the same remote management features of on and offline status and letting me know when its time to run certain updates that dont run on their own, on these machines, Many times the big X would come up and something regarding needing protection needed to be checked and nobody knew until I logged in and checked remote management. This new web interface tells me nothing. I dont even log in anymore bc it's worthless too. I cant tell anyone any info about their machines and a couple of the people on my antivirus dont live in my home and it was nice to give them a heads up to check their norton antivirus for updates bc remote management showed the X on their machine.

Re: Remote Management Taken Away

Thanks again! I sure hope Norton listens to its customer base and if it wants to redo the website over not take away the features we liked and used w the update. I'm extremely unhappy w this and will keep finding ways to contact Norton until this is hopefully resolved. I hope it does evolve to my satisfaction as well. Thank you.

Yank, I know you stated it is a web experience sent to only a few customers so far. Is there any way I could contact norton and have the web experience removed on my end somehow? I really dislike the new layout they gave me and don;t know how or who to contact about mine. It still hasn't returned to normal. Thanks!

Hello

it looks like it went out to more than a few users by now. It wasn't done by Live Update so I don't think it can be undone.  You can express your feelings in the Product Suggestions or in Tech Outpost.

Hi cn2016,

Norton is claiming the "web experience" has been sent out to everyone - however there are others who claim their Management has not changed.  Norton has also asked for feedback on what is not working as expected.   I have supplied your response from this post   to Norton as feedback and have also asked about reverting users "web experience" to the old Management on the users request.

Re: Remote Management Taken Away

Thank you for your reply Tony! I really hope you guys bring the on and offline status feature back, it was something I used several times a day and daily to monitor things. I dont mind the new layout if I could still have the same features of the old layout back. Pretty much my account management is useless for me to use anymore unless these changes are brought back and made.

@Tony_Weiss

The facility to actually name each device as before, needs to be available, partcicularly for those with multiple device keys.

On my particular machine, that option is not listed in the Manage Norton page.

Or at least if it is, I can't find it !

@F 4 E

It is not intuitive at all. You need to click on the device you want to rename from the main Security tab. Then click on the pencil icon to rename the device.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.
