reporting suggestions

I'd like to see these changes to the activity reporting:

  • bundle reports - it really is a pain to get 20 e-mails for violations during a short period.
  • provide option to specify which activity violations are reported via e-mail

Also, on the web I'd like to see this
  • show a summary report per child of url access by domain and frequency
  • show a report of violations per child, grouped by access violation

Re: reporting suggestions

Hi rjrizzuto,

Thanks for the suggestions.  Could you give me some details on "provide option to specify which activity violations are reported via e-mail" before I put them to our enhancement list?

Thanks,

Katie

rjrizzuto,

Great suggestion and in fact in our latest offering, which will be out very soon, the emails will include both the category, the web site address and also the note if your child typed one.

Re: reporting suggestions

That information will be useful.  However somedays I am inundated with e-mails, which is why I suggested bundling alerts (ay no more than 1 every 10 minutes) and also allowing some options on which site categories generate alerts.  For example, I may not care to see alerts for Uncategorized sites even though I disallow such.

Re: reporting suggestions

I should have mentioned that we will bundle the messages into a single email over a 5 minute period.

As for the uncategorized alerts, that is a good suggestion, we will add that to our list.

Re: reporting suggestions

Acutally, Uncategorized is just one example.  Mostly I would want e-mails about nudity.

Re: reporting suggestions

If you only want emails for specific categories, why not just block/warn on those categories.

Just go to settings for the child in question and deselect the categories you don't care about and mark "pornography" and it will only alert you on pornography. It will still log and categorize all the items your child surfs to, but only alert on the ones marked as not allowed.

Hope that helps.

Re: reporting suggestions

I want to block a number of sites, but I don't necessarily want to get an e-mail alert for all of them.  Some of the less important ones I can review online on a daily/weekly basis.  So basically I would like finer control on alerts, independent of what gets blocked.

Re: reporting suggestions

Ok that makes sense. We will add this to our list of things to consider.

[x] Pornography - [x] notify

[x] Gambling - [ ] notify

Re: reporting suggestions

Just to be clear, notify is for e-mail notification, and doesn't affect the web activity reports.  The web reports should still show all the blocked activity.

Re: reporting suggestions

Yes that is what I had meant. "Notify" meant notify via email, but the check meant that category was blocked.
