Re: Safe Web Team to review uTorrent ?

uTorrent contains a PUP while trying to install it. That's why it is being blocked.

Re: Safe Web Team to review uTorrent ?

Hello

Here is the message that I received from the Safe Web Team.

"utorrent.com has a malicious download which has a specific signature as PUA.OpenCandy " I will let them know about the trusted icon on the website.

Thanks

@CBlack:

1.

Have N360 on two computers, one allows uTurrent the other blocks uTorrent. Same OS. Win 7

If I may ask: are you using the latest version of Norton 360? And plz ensure Norton Security Toolbar is active on your 2 PCs. And, could U please upload an image of the browser settings especially the Extensions section? Thx

Anyway, I can visit utorrent site and its Download page while running NS & Norton Toolbar.

My NS did delete my download without alert, because of its default antivirus settings.

Then, you can customize your Norton 360 this way: Open the main platform > hit Settings > Antivirus > "Scans & Risks" tab > look into the "Exclusions / Low Risks" > enable the option "Ask Me" for "Low Risks".

Opt out of any additional yet unneeded offers when installing/running the downloaded setup file - this helps stay protected from PUPs. Further, you may exclude uTorrent in yr Norton 360.

2.

Never was there an "allow" option.

No, you can still head to the target site and/or other domains you need, at your own risk, when it comes to Norton-based protection. To do so, you can hit the link "Continue to site anyway" under the "Exit this site" button in your case.

3.

on the uTorrent website is received a "Trusted Site" icon

Were U referring to Norton Secured Seal? If so, I cannot still locate that "Trusted Site" icon on the official utorrent site at the time of commenting.

Thx...

Re: Safe Web Team to review uTorrent ?

Hello 20750065

I don't think it's helping customers any to tell them to ignore the Malicious Web Site Blockages and go to the web pages .I know that line is there. They aren't all False-Positives and they haven't all been cleaned up yet and therefore Safe.

As the Safe Web Team said above, the site does have some Malicious downloads. This was their opinion after re-evaluating the site.

As of now, the site that PSB mentions is a Green OK site and possibly you can get the same files..

Thanks.

Re: Safe Web Team to review uTorrent ?

uTorrent.com is not in itself an unsafe web site. When you download and install uTorrent there is a PUP within the installer. That is why Norton is blocking it. qBittorrent is a safe alternative to uTorrent and does not contain a PUP within the installer.
