SCAM Phone Support Report

Suspected Norton Tech Support SCAM

Caller cold called from: 888-297-2383 x-3008. Said he was from Norton Tech Support, but refused to give name. Said he was located in Oakdale Pa. Had pronounced middle-eastern accent (to my ear). Kept asking him for more Norton Security ID data, so I could identify him.

He finally gave up and hung up.

Re: SCAM Phone Support Report

You might also get them from Microsoft, not the real one, saying they detected something wrong with your computer.  I love making them hang up by initially asking if it is my Windows Vista or my Nvidia 2080 or something that if they were truly Microsoft and had done a scan on my system they would know the correct answer I then laugh as I tell them sorry but you didn't scam me as I don't even have that piece of software/hardware installed and during the laughing, click!

Re: SCAM Phone Support Report

The good news is that you were savvy enough to detect a scam. No security company, or Microsoft know what is going on with your computer

Unfortunately, there are enough people that do not detect this scam and end up paying for a service that does nothing to clean their computer, at best. At worst, they allow access to their computer and their data is stolen or the computer infected.

There is nothing anyone can do to stop people from calling you.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.
