SecuPerts Driver Updater

I just purchased Engelmann SecuPerts Driver Updater which is a software that updates all drivers on computer. Engelmann Software web site states that their software is approved by Norton; however, Norton antivirus program keeps removing the driver updater program as a low level threat. Is it okay to restore quarantined files or will I be creating other problems?

"Approved by Norton" refers to the engelmann.com website.

"Approved by Norton" does not refer to the SecuPerts Driver Updater program.

Re: SecuPerts Driver Updater

Engelmann replied to an Email, I sent,  that they contacted Norton and was told that the problem was fixed. At the same time I submitted the email to Engelmann regarding the Driver updater program, I also submitted a 'falsepostive' report to Norton. Norton replied they are investigating. Meanwhile to avoid reinstalling "Driver Updater Program" (for the 3rd time), I Checked the box in Norton's program to ignore the low level security risk for PUA.DriverUpdPro.

Re: SecuPerts Driver Updater

Hello

If you are not comfortable making registry changes, you can stop at one of the free malware removal sites. They can help you to remove the PUA and they can also create scripts that will remove the registry items and put them back the way the registry should be.

Please see this link for an up to date description of these sites plus the addition of a newly listed site formed by one of our successful malware remover users who unfortunately has passed away. That site is still being run by a good expert who happens to be one of the other Gurus.  The new site is listed first in this link.

Re: SecuPerts Driver Updater

We have already reported this case to Norton and have received an answer that this issue will be resolved shortly. So far we have been waiting more than 14 days for this false alarm to be fixed. If you visit virustotal.com, Norton is the only software that reports this!

Which is funny: Norton only detects the setup.exe, not the program.exe on virustotal.com.

But:

Even if you put our software on Norton's white list, our program.exe will always be deleted. If you remove the program.exe file from quarantine, it will still be deleted.

Any idea?

Re: SecuPerts Driver Updater

Even without Symantec's/Norton's help, we found out why Norton mistakenly classified our software as a low level threat.

Here is a new version:

http :// go .engelmann . com/driverupdater . exe

All tests/programs on virustotal.com do not recognize our software.

Re: SecuPerts Driver Updater

We got today an answer from Symantec:

"Upon further analysis and investigation we have verified your submission and as such this detection will be removed from our products."
