Re: Secure VPN will NOT connect.

I have tried to download VPN after it has disappeared from my iMac. Followed all the instructions several times and all it does is download Norton360. Not a happy bunny as I want the VPN protection.

Re: Secure VPN will NOT connect.

I don't understand why I cannot connect to Secure VPN and have never been able to since installing Norton 360 months ago.

The My Norton control panel shows that my Secure VPN connection is unprotected and when I click on the yellow 'turn on' box in Windows 10, I get a NortonLifeLock message informing me that Secure VPN is establishing a safe network connection, but this immediately followed by an error message stating "Secure VPN has experienced a connection failure. Please try again later".

It doesn't seem to matter how many times I try later, because exactly the same thing happens and I'm no further forward.

I have the same problem on both of my Desktop PC's which are supposed to be protected by Norton 360.

Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Secure VPN will NOT connect.

Did you try Google Public DNS?

  1. On Windows 10, right-click the Start button and select Network Connections
  2. Click Change adapter options
  3. Right-click your Internet connection and select Properties
  4. Double-click Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv4)
  5. Select Use the following DNS server addresses
  6. Set Preferred DNS server to 8.8.8.8
  7. Set Alternate DNS server to 8.8.4.4
  8. Click OK
  9. Try to connect with Norton Secure VPN

FWIW ~ please review:

Message: "Connection Error: Secure VPN has experienced a connection failure. Please try again later."
This problem can occur if Norton Secure VPN fails to establish a connection to the VPN server. Make sure that your device is connected to the Internet.

To fix this problem, uninstall and reinstall the WAN Miniport drivers and reset the network adapter settings. If the problem persists, uninstall and reinstall Norton.

Re: Secure VPN will NOT connect.

This "solution" does not work. Step 4 has been updated by my ISP to TCP/IPv6 and steps 6 and 7 are not available DNS server addresses

  2. Click Change adapter options
  3. Right-click your Internet connection and select Properties

Re: Secure VPN will NOT connect.

Sorry > Typo
Step 4 = Double-click Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)

Just tried the corrected "solution". I restarted my computer after resetting the network. Still didn't work. Same error message.

Norton Secure VPN documentation does not denote stand-alone Norton Secure VPN vs Norton 360 Secure VPN.
I'm Norton 360 Secure VPN.   Changing my router Firewall security setting, changing my DNS and reinstall WAN Miniport drivers....helped my "Connection Error"... at different times.

Curious, have you tried "Uninstall and reinstall WAN Miniport drivers"

Re: Secure VPN will NOT connect.

I've now managed to turn on Secure VPN on my Windows10 desktop PC by uninstalling and reinstalling WAN Miniport drivers as suggested on Norton's support website.

Thank you for suggesting other possible solutions. I hope the other two people find a solution.
